Food would be the biggest barrier to population growth in pre modern times
They're cool people but like it doesn't stop the world from imploding. Most of all of our code is full of trivial bugs and edge cases and most people don't mind too much. Certainly no one cares about leap seconds, they hardly even notice DST or leap days
After reading all that, maybe we should just have some bugs in our code and stop making up new things
so yes something is very wrong
trump just undid the gpu export to china to help jensen make money
well, eric's book tries to make the point that these good companies DO overperform the market. after reading the book this past week, im not convinced. feels like heavy selection bias.

Maybe maybe not. Counter factuals are easy to dream up but impossible to verify
Net zero. But not effectively zero. They sell energy during the day when no one needs it and buy it an night when we all need it. If we all switched to solar and heat pumps there would be blackouts and an energy crisis
So then they are wrong. The last 5-10 percent is the hardest part and it's the one consumers complain the most about! You can't run a factory on 90% power availability
we are already mostly energy independent. dont understand how dumping oil on gulf animals helps
Not relative to their income tho. Sales taxes are regressive and get more money from the poor
Does the us have any toothless vassal states?
Many of those cancers are not harmful or would be killed ok their own. And the cost of diagnosis on the patient is not free either. It causes lots of anxiety and stress which also cause large negative health effects too. Over diagnosis is real and also bad. Medical stuff is just really hard
Do you check everyone's hn account history?
The android app scrollguard helped me. Stops YouTube short, reels and TikTok from being clicked on. It has massive permissions to survey my phone which could be scary. But as an addict you have to admit when you need to check yourself into rehab. And the phone is the drug.
Short form video has been a total break from previous media and social media consumption patterns. Personally I would support a ban on algorithmic endless short form video. It's purely toxic and bad for humanity
To be fair. Healthcare.gov is a lot more complicated. And has to integrate with marketplaces in all 50 states
