Surprised to see no mentions of Guild Wars 2 among all the discussion about WoW and FFXIV

I think in many ways Guild Wars kept the innovation going better than World of Warcraft. They also made it easy to level up doing your preferred activities rather than grinding “kill 5 kobold” quests. The combat is a lot more action-filled as well with the dodge mechanic and spells that don’t need to be channeled.

I think a lot of their ability to add these improvements came from selling the game as free-to-play with one time purchases so there isn’t as much reason to force you to grind every single day for monthly subscriber growth

Literally use it for 5 minutes and you’ll understand.

1. Excellent watch list functionality including showing pre-market change separately from regular hours change.

2. Automatic alerts when any stock hits a new 52 week high or low as well a 5 or 10% move in either direction

3. Ability to trade starting at 4 AM which is at least 3 hours earlier than almost every other brokerage. This allows for earlier trades on big news.

4. Best mobile charts including the ability to show candlesticks with numerous indicators at many timescales. You’re not stuck with the bare Robinhood charts.

5. Excellent market information section showing top movers, highest volume, upcoming earnings, breaking news

6. Detailed information on large inflows and outflows for every stock

I have many more but I’ll start there because the charts and watch list alone make it easily better than the competition.

Better to check in on Google Maps rather than Foursquare so you keep your history when the small companies pivot away or abandon the service. It is bizarre to me that Foursquare didn’t keep it going though

I use ACH and Venmo all the time for no fees. Do you mean the tiny electricity fee that they pay on my behalf of maybe $0.01? Sure seems like a great deal compared to the multiple dollars (sometimes over $50) charged by Bitcoin and friends

It’s a promotion run by Airbnb. Not sure why this post is on the front page as it’s clearly not a scam. They’ve run similar promotions in the past and the poster simply didn’t get a booking in time.

The Bay Area is a dense region with earthquakes and it’s share of NIMBYs which complicates planning but they’re still opening four new stations next year as part of the Central Subway.

I’d certainly like to see a lot more infrastructure projects but building more lanes on highways is not actually the solution according to the vast majority of urban planners. Try visiting cities that went all in on highways. For example, here in Bangkok they’ve been investing a ton into the metro systems (MRT and BTS) because even after covering the city in highways the traffic doesn’t move in many areas.

I see you deleted your other comment where you said I’d clearly never left the United States. It’s a bizarre thing to assume about someone you’ve never met who has spent six months in European and Asian cities this year. Next time read the content of what is written instead of inventing things.

Well let’s see I spent the last five months in Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, London, and Zagreb. Now I’m in Bangkok. So your assumption that I’ve never been overseas is drastically incorrect. In fact, I’d wager I’ve been to more countries than you have and I always use the subway when available.

If you read my comment, I mentioned that while the US is poor at public transit in general, the NYC subway stands out for several reasons including being 24 hours, being able to perform track maintenance without shutting down due to having two tracks (something I believe no other system has), and it also has 472 stations! Prague has 61 stations and even Tokyo only has 280.

So you ignored the fact that I said America isn’t good at public transit, ignored the reasons I cited that make the NYC system better in some ways than the systems you’re talking about, and instead responded with some misplaced condescension about “American exceptionalism”

Stop making assumptions about strangers on the Internet instead of reading what they wrote.

You’re saying NYC has the worst subway? If so, you’re seriously taking it for granted.

It’s the only subway I’m aware of with two sets of tracks so it can run 24 hours even while maintenance is performed usually. It’s better than basically any other subway in America as a start and certainly better than many others as well.

That said, the United States is clearly terrible at public transport overall.

They said the same thing about Tesla and it’s been working out quite well for them. I definitely favor the theory that it’s a bubble but even if it’s true “the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent”
