I use Chrome for Google's sites (Gmail, Youtube, etc) and Firefox for everything else. On Chrome you can install Youtube as an "app". That makes it easy for me to keep YT up and running while using Firefox for general browsing. Definitely recommend trying this approach out!

Seems like no one has ever been prosecuted for perjury on a DMCA take down notice. This feels like more of an empty threat by Github to prevent false DMCA complaints, but of course submitting claims on their repos would be one heck of a way to test that.

My mother is an employment attorney. When a company gets sued over an employee matter those kinds of messages are surfaced in pretty much every case because people tend to send those kind of things over company owned tools. Kind of hilarious the things people say thinking their boss will never see it.

I’m no expert here, so someone by all means correct me, but my understanding is that the fed rate correlates to the rate of interest the government has to pay on its debts. The higher the rate, the larger the chance that the government defaults which for the US would be catastrophic.

Is there any plan to add AMD CPUs to the Framework laptop?

The 12th gen Intel chips are a huge improvement over previous generations, but my understanding is that AMD chips are of similar performance with better power usage and thermals.

I think I slightly misunderstood the point of this site, people probably do want fast updates. But I still think the price should be brought down. You could probably save costs by pooling the crawling, eg. if multiple subscribers request the same page, do that crawl once for all of them. You may already be doing that.

My two cents: Switch up the pricing plans. I certainly would never pay $50 per month (and my gosh $100?!?) for this service, but I may want to watch more than 10 pages your $10 plan has.

My suggestion, is to just simplify all the pricing. Get rid of all the tiers. Keep the free and $10/month tiers. Make the $10 tier do unlimited pages. No one needs 10 min or 1 min updates. I think do hourly updates on the $10 tier.

I think you'll find that more people are willing to subscribe if you bring the price down while providing more value for that.

There’s literally only one feature on the iPad I want: virtualization. Can it do that yet?

Finder just relaunches when you force quit it in Activity Monitor? Is there something else you had to do to get it to not relaunch?

Also, I'm not sure how much you are saving by doing that. My Finder uses 0% CPU when not being actively used.

While I appreciate this response from the CEO, I still think that he and DDG lack creativity. Again it is not about actually replacing Bing but having leverage on Microsoft. DDG pays Microsoft a whole lot of money I imagine for that search, so it shouldn’t take much for them keep their promises on privacy.

In fact the way I read this, I just see someone who is essentially saying they’d rather have good search results if it means sacrificing privacy.

While Microsoft may require this, I put the blame here entirely on DuckDuckGo. They should be spending a not-insignificant amount of money on replacing Bing, either with an in-house solution or a reasonable 3rd party. This isn’t about actually replacing Bing, it’s about having leverage on Microsoft so they can’t make these kinds of asks of a company who claims to be “privacy focused”.

Ironically I just upgraded to Big Sur yesterday from Catalina. I think I'll probably wait again to let 3rd-party apps catch up.

Parcel definitely looks simpler than Webpack. Of course Webpack tries to advertise itself that way, but it's never the case.

esbuild definitely caught my eye. I'm now noticing they support CSS and static files, which I guess I didn't realize. Is it easy to setup and configure? Because that is the one part of Webpack I cannot stand.

Anyone here switch from Webpack to Parcel? Or, look into switching and decided not to?

I recently upgraded Webpack from 4 to 5 and briefly looked for alternatives, but ultimately just decided to stick with Webpack since it works for us.

I feel like many in this thread misunderstand me. Our company follows pretty standard practices. Before anything is worked on, everyone has to write in pretty excruciating detail what is being done, from juniors all the way to our marketing department. Everyone works on the documentation including the juniors.

98% of the questions I get are not about the basics, they are very high-level problem solving questions coming from people that just need clarification or 2nd pair of eyes on something. I mean even I need that quite often and I am very grateful for the help.
