I've been trying to find Microsoft azure sales for years. As it is cool tech but could never figure out is it was actually selling. This report is no better in its obfuscation. First they state 12bil annualized run rate, ie they made 1 billion in june their best month. then they say "we are on track to achieve $20 billion in commercial cloud annualized revenue run rate in fiscal year 2018.". why not say actual revenue but that's just me. but the kicker is I suspect that a large chunk of this revenue is office 365. and can office 365 really be considered new revenue source and not just a migration from other office sales.

Those adds seemed weird to me. I program in the oil/gas space I couldn't imagine thinking working to built some app would be better that actually contributing to real world production. My den at my place is full of aerial shots of all the facilities I programmed. Every time I look at them I am filled with tons of pride.

It's crazy to think I bought my ti-89 in 2000 it was 250ish. It ran on a 68000 that was already old AF, and I love that calculator. Why was it so expensive. At the time other graphing calculators existed but no other company had a comparable calculator(at least to me)

How big is their actual market. In Print The Legend they realize a major sector is the small engineering/tech shops that can't afford/don't need an industrial prototyper but could use a $3000 one. After that they have the "Hobbyist". These sectors seem small and possibly shrinking.

Wasn't this by design. They always wanted the ipod to be cross platform. The ipod then became advertisement for Apple's laptops and pc's. I'd argue ipod/itunes drove mac sells and by the time the iphone came around Apple was respected by consumers as a legitimate consumer electronics company.

I agree with this. in the lena DUNHAM case she seems to be affirming maron's assumptions. The question implies that if you don't agree with me I have totally misunderstood you as a person. If she replied with yeah, ok(or any other negative word), she would be communicating her new knowledge of marons inability to relate and the either dismissing the statement or rejecting it. Much conversation is to relate as apposed to communicating specific ideas. on a slight tangent that new usage of random to mean unexpected is more actually meant to me of all the actions I've seen you take I would not have predicted this on.

Words flipping from positive to negative and visa versa is very common in language. Just the other day I was talking to some younger kids about hockey and they were going on about a goal being "filthy" and "Dirty". In my day a dirty goal was one that didn't look nice. To them these goals were so naughty(as in sexy) you wanted to take a shower after seeing them.

People keep on saying it's kids(mental age), but I don't buy it. I was reading a book on psychopathy/sociopath(can't remember the name) but one of the theses were just how common they actually are. In times past these people would just be dicks to people around them. Now they can actual fuck with people with far greater reach. I think they are fully aware of what they are doing and only find it funny because they lack empathy.

most here probably want there to be as distinction between the 2(including me) because their personal identity is tied to being a geek. They see it as a badge of honour. Being a geek to them(me) means applying yourself to things that are important/interesting without caring if it's cool or effects your social life. However language doesn't work that way. So our(my) aspergerness gets lump with all. So even though i spent my weekends competing at ski races since i spent weekday excelling at math, programming, watching syndicated Star Trek, and generally making little eye contact and mumbling to myself. I get lumped as a nerd/geek with anyone that watches star trek and lacks social skills.
