Although I agree with you– just to play devil's advocate, I think it's a welcome change from the Sculley days when the Mac nearly died. Rather than appealing to the "true artists and professionals" (which worked out GREAT for Apple /s) during those years, they're appealing to a wider demographic (as they did since the iPhone made smartphones go mainstream). I'm not saying mainstream vs. pro has to be diametrically opposed, but this is a great way to tackle a niche that Apple has been starved of in the pre-iPod era. As a Mac fan, I'm hoping they'll invest this capital back into polishing their software lineup.

Thanks for your advice. I do work the PM who uses Agile, but I'll have to learn more about it under the radar. I'm not sure my company would be too enthusiastic about it :)

Thanks. I think that's exactly what my short-term vision looks like, and I can't imagine going back to school anyway. But the main challenge for finding a PM role in a startup: "Requires minimum 3+ years managing a product"
