Author here,

Agreed and most people tend to go towards ECS is because they don’t have enough resources to manage EKS or Kuberenetes in general

Now Kuberenetes is really powerful in my opinion but sometimes it might be an overkill

You might even get away with EC2s but they bring extra overhead of management such as patches and os upgrades and autoscaling can be trivial

This is so true, scope creep is real when the client actively gets involved

And when that happens it’s better to move the contract to hourly rather having it fixed price

But you are also right about having a strong contract

Location: New York City, United States

Remote: Yes (Preferred)

Willing to relocate: No

Technologies: AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, CloudFormation, CDK, Glue, MWAA), Terraform, Python, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, FastAPI, Flask, Django, Bash, Linux

I'm a Senior DevOps Engineer with 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure and automation. I spent 2 years at AWS Professional Services, where I led CloudFormation Resources Migration, built CDK constructs in Python and TypeScript, and helped enterprise customers design CI/CD pipelines.

I'm open to DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or backend Python roles. Happy to chat about contract or full-time opportunities.

I’m hacking on different side projects but currently I’m working on developing a platform for helping freelancers or small agencies understand aws costs and optimize their environments

Its been a pain point for a lot of the clients I work with helping them understand and optimize their aws costs

They might get a surprise 1000 dollar bill and won’t be able to understand why it happened or what incurred that costs

That thought makes me excited and scared

I haven’t written any single line of code but i have been able to plan and come up with new ideas faster

I’m more of a product manager than a coder due to these new AI coding tools

Here’s my advice,

As someone who was a developer and ended up in a support role by mistake of company

Now i left that company but here’s how I relearned everything

- Read lots of Code, look how things are implemented. You can use LLMs just don’t blindly use them to copy paste ask the LLM to thoroughly explain the approach.

- Treat LLMs as someone who has lots of Knowledge whom you can ask lots of questions.

- looking at different open source projects is really helpful and having the hungry mindset of learning

Would you be open to someone for those tasks?

I just checkout your project and it looks amazing. I’m not a Mobile Developer but I have definitely worked with Java especially with Springboot

Would love to get in touch with you
