I suggest this time around YC picks a handful of apps and sends them feedback. It'll be like the next best thing to getting an interview. i don't see how unfair it is. they're already selecting a handful for interviews.

In what way? i find it sad that Mars One > family for some "nerds". Family is the real mission and the real heros are those who achieve that status. Family also has a greater social benefit. The OP talks about Mars One as the mission that has great social benefit. That's really sad.

My doubt is based on divine scriptures, and there are experiments (as per the article i mentioned) that agree with it. What's wrong with that? You can still experiment and prove divine wisdom, it doesn't have to be forced knowledge.

as i answered before, merely on a non-secular basis. Not all knowledge comes from science and experiments. There is so much knowledge in religious scriptures.

I'm a non-secular person that's why. I certainly don't have the numbers, i read them here and there. But i base it on knowledge coming from scriptures. Scientists are hardworking people, but i don't take their numbers as faith.

Scientists make mistakes as often as Economist writers do. I don't revere scientists i'm sorry.

i read an article a while back on the economist which suggested that if you look at a longer span (much longer than 1880) you will find that this is a natural cycle that the Earth/Sun go through. We just happen to be at that point in the cycle. i really doubt we humans can affect climate changes in any way. An interactive colourful plot doesn't convince me.

I don't know about oil-rich countries, but Lebanon has allowed over 1 million Syrian refugees in. I don't think it has to do with Muslims only, it's an Arab issue.

i'm working on automating texture compression for game authors. i'm imagining a tool that automagically compresses assets for best quality and size, and very quickly, in a way a game author wouldn't have to even know it's happening. At this point i'd like to talk to game authors about their texture compression pains.

Your opinion of the book is interesting. is it safe to say that you haven't read it? i'm assuming that because there is no poetry in there. Just assuming. Otherwise your opinion is interesting because there is a large group of people who share the same. i personally found it mind blowing.

It's a religious scripture. Unfortunately you need to learn Arabic first. Translations don't do it justice to say the least. The book is called The Quran. It talks about parallel universes, "aliens", super heroes, travelling through space and time, how ants communicate, and even modern superpower alliances. It's a hard read even if you know Arabic. For instance, reading a phrase from the first chapter will not make sense unless you reach later chapters. It even has encrypted letter combinations that have not been unlocked yet. i've read it twice from cover to cover, and about to start my third.

in my opinion you're not a "bad programmer". Since when has cobbling things together until they work or making a lot of mistakes called bad programming. Keep doing what you're doing if it's working for you. Don't stress to become like other people. You will be surprised how many fast problem solvers i met and found out they're just solving the same problem over and over again. but hey i might be a bad programmer myself, so it's just my opinion.

1)Internet speed is a problem. Engineering talent is extinct (all the good engineers leave the country). Like i said people are leaving so no experience from outside is coming in.

2)Some of these startups mentioned are dead, even some of the names are people i worked with and have not a single success story (some not all) which diminishes the credibility of this article. As for the promising startups like Anghami, they have a better understanding of the arab culture and connections, let alone the reality of the situation as opposed to information perceived from such articles.

Yes. At the earliest stage i needed money so i partnered with a friend who had nothing to do with what i was working on. I always kept him in the loop out of courtesy, but it back fired when he started refusing some of the decisions and pushing his own. To get rid of him i paid 4X what he originally invested and i'm still going through a lawsuit right now. i'm paying for all this from my revenue and end up having nothing for myself. Hopefully the judge will dismiss the case and this nightmare will end.

i do non secular meditation. each session takes around 10-15 minutes at regular time intervals; dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and night, which also serves as a tiny yoga exercise. i'm also obligated to eat something (a date or full meal) at each interval. these are what people refer to today as muslim prayers.

since i started doing this everyday, i became less addicted to work. after each exercise i look forward to the second, and my work is now divided into the time slots in between, rather than one shift of 8 to 5. the biggest psychological impact this had on me was that material matters don't matter to me anymore, and it made sort of a minimalist.

oh i see what you mean. yes im saying they were absolutely right. what was bitter is that they suspended the app with no warning. they couldve warned me and i wouldve had no problem fixing it. the app was completely free with no ads.

infringement. my app was called Nexus Photos. before submitting i read that google was denied the trademark on the name nexus. i also sent an email before publishing the app to google play, and they said it's ok to use the word "Nexus" in the title. i provided this info in my appeal. but the appeal was refused. as i said, they were right, but removing the app with no warning was brutal.

that's what i'm saying. i wish they did. when they suspended my app i was being contacted by another team from google, AdMob, to "help grow my business". so i thought i was fine as long as i can make them money. they got me excited, then suddenly removed my app.

after getting 100k active users, and over 2million sessions per week, which was 1 year after submitting my app, google play suspended my app without warning, and i lost all.

they were right, i didn't accurately follow their terms, but if they reviewed my app once submitted a year ago, that could've been avoided.

it was a bitter experience for me, and i decided to port my app to iOS. i heard iOS provides warnings atleast.

i saw a 6 year old play Temple Run on an iPad and i was amazed! Someone jokingly said that he doesn't trust kids; they pretend not to know how to speak, then they make transactions and build empires on their iPad.
