Love Stripe at our business! Best move we've made to date.

i want to sell htmlc.com - send me an email if you want to buy it :) have owned it for years and years - never used it - was going to be part of my htmlcenter.com site but never got around to it.
WOW. so socialcam scrapes videos and then gets them into facebook - what a shame...
I noted this in my recap posts about 2 mos ago - the interesting thing is that if you watch the earliest episodes, I don't think they put this in the credits - but now they do. They don't say the percentages but they do say that ABC or the producers may take an equity percentage in the company.
Remember that it is a tv show - the pitch and presentation is MUCH longer than what we see on tv. Also, I still wonder how many of the deals actually ever close.
I wrote about this the other day - I thought for sure it had to be a late april fools joke but once i started to get their emails I realized it was for serious. I don't get why they spend so much money on worthless content - just show the deals.

I put CenterNetworks on Flippa about 15 days ago - starting bid at $10k. So far no bids, 13 people "watching" the auction. I've had a few private messages about stats but that is it so far. There are still 15 days left in the auction.
fyi- i have seen a number of auto shops on groupon now and living social live.
I think having an online reminder system might be good - instead of the sticker on the windshield - send the customer an email to let them know about time to get an oil change and perhaps offer other maintenance items as well
Think about this... Google charges you $900 to attend a conference that they will "teach you" how to build apps that work on their systems which benefit them way more than you.
I know Apple charges a developer fee as well.
Amazing how this hacker/developer world works - pay for access to their app stores, pay for conferences to learn how to make apps for their app stores, etc.
Double the price of last year.
Woo! Go Stripe! We use them on CloudContacts and love it.
Stripe has been awesome for us at CloudContacts!
what happens to those with premium accounts?
anyone have a list of the companies that were part of SOPA that attended either of the last two demo days?
Here's my post from 2008 where I ask my readers to help me define what a startup is - I also list some companies wondering if they are startups: http://www.centernetworks.com/startup-definition
If we go with the TC definition, Facebook is still a startup :)
What I really want to know is what is the difference between "startup" and "small business"?
I can assure you that my post has nothing to do with Stripe, their marketing team or anything else.
And frankly my post has a lot more to do with the order flow than Stripe because you could insert Braintree or a regular payment provider in the place of Stripe and the post still holds.
I think when you are paying OUT, it's important to think about your payees. Are your payees wanting to use something else? For these small amounts, they may want paypal and that could be one of the reasons they use you.
I have an affiliate relationship setup with one company - and make about $50 a month or so - they pay via paypal and that is perfect. I am not sure I would want to bother with it if they required me to setup a new account with some other program.
Sorry!
I like review my order - thank you for the suggestion
We do have paypal option - I think I see I need to add a link to it on the order page, right now the link is on the order options page.
As for Amazon, I spoke with them at length - their FPS service won't work for us they said.
Thanks so much for your feedback
got some better wording? Clicking that button takes you to a review page where you see the info then on that page you click to buy.
Aah - I need to add the line that we do not store your credit card info to the order form - thanks for that! It's on the thank you page but you are right - I could add it to the form.
One thing I absolutely wanted in our new system was that we were never going to store the cc# - that's one of the reasons I liked Paypal/GC because we never stored the cc number. I read something about a wine store being hacked and the hackers getting all of the credit card numbers recently.
I'd love more input here - the page is SSL - I purposely don't want to put "powered by stripe" on the page - so far the only one I have seen doing this (i did ask) is Kickstarter. If you have ideas on how to overcome your concern, I would totally love to hear it - thanks!
hi - I decided not to post the entire list in that bulleted list because it would be too long but I can assure you I did look into a lot of providers including Chase - I plan to post about all of that in another post hopefully next week. Thanks for reading the post and giving me your feedback.
I think one of the big factors in going with Stripe over PP Payments Pro was the strong technical side that Stripe offers.
BTW - I made a post about the switch for us: "Moving to Stripe: Fixing the Biggest Mistake I’ve Made to Date"
http://www.centernetworks.com/stripe-from-paypal-google-chec...
We switched to Stripe from Paypal and Google Checkout a month ago and so far I've been very, very pleased. I plan to do a writeup of why we switched soon - wanted a bit more results first. FYI, Stripe launched a new web interface 2 days ago.
The net bottom line was this: 1. our customers (business people who are not super tech savvy) just don't understand that you can pay with a credit card on paypal and google checkout requires a google account 2. the "go off and pay" somewhere else and come back to the main site is messy
I have no real complaints with paypal over the years we used them so I can't bash them but I found that over time, we lost sales because people were confused. Now there is no more confusion - fill in a few fields and instantly you are done.
We also considered Braintree which I was also impressed with but decided on Stripe because of the non-need for a merchant account.
I am happy to answer any questions here or privately if needed.
It's interesting how many startups are based here yet Gowalla got the huge press whenever Austin was mentioned. I wonder why this is - is it because of the Foursquare competition initially? Because they launched at SXSW and were a local company?
I moved my company to Austin from NYC a year ago. Not one event have I been to where Gowalla was mentioned.
I don't think that Gowalla has been a Foursquare competitor for a long time.
There should really be an explanation posted. I also wonder how they will deal with those people who already booked travel and now have to pay high fees to change their travel bookings.
