Thats an interesting point about employees. I've seen a Java team take 6 months to hire 3 new developers in London. That's before development even started :)
Correct. It's not the quality of the competing app, or it's closeness to my functionality. It's the consumer confusion, and the blatant piggy backing off of others success which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm more surprised Apple doesn't deal with it.
Here's a good one I was told about a Twitter client I developed: "The links in the tweets just open up a webview when you press them..." - It was rejected on this basis, and this was the appeal board telling me this... :(
Both your requests are on the to-do list but require some help from the Clicky team unfortunately. I could do multiple API calls for each site but it would be good to do one call and get back the data I need...
With regards to notifications, I could actually look at doing that now, assuming users were willing to part with their API key to a hop notification server. Something also the clicky guys may do anyway that we can tag along to.
I developed ClickyTouch, and would love some user feedback from anyone (a)using Clicky Analytics, and (b) their experience with ClickyTouch and what gaps are missing. Really keen to improve
Really like the idea. It's kind of like the 37Signals stuff, although a bit less formal, and more about social groups. Could be interested for running projects though.. will try it.
The point of the article is in hope that Apple or whomever are looking beyond stats and material stuff such as "they have a swimming pool", and seeing if there is a more underlying reason for it.
There may not be, which is fine. I'm simply questioning that they should be if they're not. Right now there is no evidence that they are other than they are looking at it. At what we don't know.
Interested in people's opinions and experiences with this. As a blogger, I naturally fear opinion and comments in response to my blog entries, but they are good for debate and ultimately in creating content on sites for free....
If this happens it'll be a massive shift for Apple. It ultimately means less Macs will be purchased for development purposes, whereas right now, that HAS to happen.
It does make sense though... more developers = more apps = more revenue.
Who knows.. maybe they'll also have OS X app development in there too :-P
"In many ways, Mobile Me isn't that good" - hence Apple will gain nothing from making a bad product free. Their captive audience right now are Mac users, and it's a far easier sell.

Looking at blog.facebook.com right now, there is no sign of this, nothing officially on facebook.com. This is why people don't trust Facebook.
I guess it'll turn out to be iTunes.com, your Mac will stop being the hub, and it'll move to the cloud.
Apple are building a new data centre which apparently will be built for the cloud, my guess it's going to be the backbone of iTunes.com and their other online services. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/08/apple-cloud/
