Their page title advertises Techstars as the "#1 Startup Accelerator in the World." I'm not sure what metric they are using, but that seems a bit disingenuous.

I actually like the bake tools better than Django admin. The problem with Django admin for me is that the skeleton is just "magic." By that I mean I often want to go in and customize the admin interfaces and forms, but Django makes it hard to do that. Bake actually produces real MVC files, which I can then customize to my liking.
Not for Hackers. DSRC has no outlets. Or rather, they cover up the outlets.
The collaborative, physical style of gameplay seemed unique to me. I think it's an innovation in this space that is definitely worth a writeup on TC, YC-funded or not.
If you compare one place to another, and clearly one of those locations has an environment more supportive for success in your field, wouldn't that be preferred? Perhaps you are just looking for a challenge, but if you're like the rest of us who are looking to succeed, maximizing the success factors tends to be a good idea.
I think you're taking the discussion a bit too seriously and missing the point. I'm pretty sure the blog post wasn't a verbatim conversation, but most people who have lived in the Bay Area and worked on a startup recognize the difference in reaction between people in that area versus people in other parts of the country.
Did Matt even read that Gladwell article? If so, I'm not sure how the only thing he got out of it was the racetrack anecdote. He makes it out like that was the primary focus, and supporting evidence, of the article.
I reckon there's been a lot of different apps that do in-page commenting, but they didn't have the social infrastructure to make it stick. I think socialbrowse has the right approach because the comments and link sharing complement each other.
The search box version doesn't show the previews, but the Firefox toolbar does the trick!
Addiction probably won't be fixed by 8aweek, but for alot of self improvement types, like myself, I can definitely see how it'll help me shape my own behaviour.
