There is a perception that Swift is only a good language for Apple platforms. While this was once true, this is no longer the case and Swift is becoming increasingly a good cross-platform language.

How good is the developer experience on a non-Apple platform really? Linux is my primary platform and my perception is, that allmost all of the swift eco system is for Apple. Libraries, tools, documentation, IDEs, tutorials, etc. all assume, that you use an Apple.

Can someone tell me who does not use an Apple-device and uses swift?

That is not relevant for this discussion, if you don't think of every discussion as an east vs. west conflict discussion.

vector graphics in a simple XML format.

Simple? No. SVGs are not simple. If they were simple they weren't so capable.

ZFS might be better then any other FS on Linux (I don't judge that).

But you must admit that the situation on Linux is quite better then on Windows. Linux has so many FS in main branch. There is a lot of development. BTRFS had a rocky start, but it got better.

I am on Fedora Silverblue

I am not sure I I understand you correctly. Should it work on Fedora?

But can it now say "I don't know." ? Or can it evaluate its own results and came to the conclusion that its just a wild guess?

I am still impressed by the progress though.

Always, when I read those postings that praise Swift, I wonder how good is the developer experience is if you don't use any of the Apple/MacOS ecosystem (except Swift, of course). I have not met any Swift developer who is not developing on macOS, usually for macOS. That makes me very skeptical that non-Mac devs are treated as second-class citizens. I am not only talking about the standard library, but also about the tooling, LSP, libraries, tutorials and so on. I totally believe that Swift is a good language, but I guess it is only good if you are on macOS.

If you are developing with Swift but not using a Mac at all, I would love to hear how your experience has been.
