You are comparing apples and oranges my friend. They all target specific user experiences and vastly different services. If I were to guess, Google would be vastly larger then the rest following by snapchat/facebook tied and twitter lagging behind with 300 million plus active daily users.

My question is which shift do you follow then, the app bubble is there and it's about to burst. Web is trying to build once deploy everywhere. It may not be ideal, but xamarin and other technologies don't offer an easier solution.

I do agree that browsers should be reviewed and revised and trimmed down to the essentials with added functionality through encapsulated plugins or so, the browser tries to solve too much imho

Well it was a project specific feature I worked on that I was allowed to open source, that's why it's framework specific. I would like to port it to vanillaJS, but even then it wouldn't fit the requirements of many MV* cultures

Indeed, I did my best to keep the dependencies minimal in this one. Although it's angular reliant it only has one dependency to momentJS

Technically you are right, but I find that as a developer when management decides on a certain path of technology you have to work around it's flaws and try to make something that has the look and feel of something made with quality, even if the code will turn out ugly 99% of the time

I have thought about it, but I just haven't had the time to implement it, I'll put it on the features list.

At my work, even in production we still have to use Joda Time to support proper datetime stamps. Momentjs is pretty much the same for JS at this point. I think my datepicker works pretty well, I just added a demo if you visit the github page at http://mobinni.github.io/material-date-picker/ you can test it.

I used the angularstrap one, it's pretty good!
