The FAQs on the page says there are "secure and reliable recovery options" when the device with the passkey is lost. I wish there was more explanation for that because trying to help people recover Microsoft accounts when they don't have the password is mostly when I have used the SMS codes.

For me there a bit of a language barrier with the terminology. After reading the sentences about hg.sr.ht and community maintenance it seems that some notable meaning is being conveyed about what that means for the operation of the service but its one I'm not smart enough to understand.

I appreciate the service though so I hope the differences between maintained and operated doesn't mean anything in the long term.

Edison Motors, a startup manufacturer of heavy vocational diesel-electric trucks (electric drivetrain with a diesel generator onboard for charging) and retrofit kits, has announced a plan for similar pickup truck retrofit kits.

After watching the Edison Motors company build a hybrid electric logging truck prototype on YouTube it made me quite disappointed there don't seem to be other classes of vehicle being made in a similar user repairable manner. Of course, passenger vehicles do have some additional regulated safety requirements compared to a heavy vocational truck but perhaps someone will try to figure it out.

This does seem plausible, but I then wonder how the thought analogy plays out considering Sutskever's subsequent statement of regret for trying out the reset button in this case.

I find it interesting that the attempted explanations, as unconvincing as they may be, are related to Altman specifically. Given that Brockman was the board chairperson it is surprising that there don't seem to be any attempts to explain that demotion. Perhaps its just not being reported to anyone outside but it makes no sense to me that anyone would assume a person would stay after being removed from a board without an opportunity to be at the meeting to defend their position.

I generally like Brother printers but sometimes the software is less great.

I have a Brother DCP-L2550DW which is very good but for some reason the scan to PC function no longer works over the network. Printing still works as expected in all cases, but ControlCenter4 can't communicate via the network anymore. It works fine if I connect a USB cable so I just do that when I need to scan.

Independent, except VW AG still holds a majority of the ordinary voting shares and the rest of the Porsche AG voting shares are held by the family holding company that also holds the controlling shares of VW AG. At the moment, the same person is also CEO of both companies.

Unfortunately the article doesn't get into too much detail about the particular legal argument being made.

Given the state government has taken actions intended to address the water level in the lake it would appear that the fact of the water level being a problem isn't the main point of dispute. I'm not entirely familiar with US law but I guess the legal question might be whether the state's actions are sufficient to protect the lake and also whether the sufficiency or insufficiency is a justiciable matter (rather than a political/legislative one).

This seems to be a copy of the original written arguments from the plaintiffs. [1]

I think that it did. It was initially created by only a few people in 2008 [1] but then Joel Spolsky wrote a blog post about seeking VC investment in early 2010 [2] and the series A was announced in May that year [3]. The VC investment round was around the same time as the company announced the free Stack Exchange network for other topics not covered by their original site [4].

I wonder if there will be any confusion issues with Threads.com which is some kind of team communication app (advertises itself as a Slack replacement for makers).

Logan was produced by 20th Century Fox.

To the best of my knowledge the X-Men films made before Disney acquired the X-Men rights in 2019 (along with the rest of Fox) were made in partnership with Marvel Entertainment (the publishing and licensing company) and not Marvel Studios (the Disney "cinematic universe" subsidiary).
