A few things: 1/ the system doesn’t need to be connected to a network, or can be on a private/secured network. 2/ You can make changes to BIOS and other elements of the system that the OS can’t “see”. 3/ If the system is sleeping or shutdown, JetKVM can send a wake-on-LAN signal/magic packet.

I’d say for many use cases, it’s not better than RDP/VNC, but if you’re looking access that is independent of the network and state of the system, JetKVM can’t be beat.

My thought process was if you search your primary email, you'll quickly see all the breaches with that email. Using a different email per service reduces the surface area (lateral movement). Security through obscurity has nominal value, but the reduction in ability to correlate has a much higher value.

There are also numbers that suggest the more conservative states, such as Texas, are becoming more liberal over time. I would almost wager that Texas, at it's current growth rate, could be a swing state by the 2020 Presidential Election.

On the surface I love this idea. Flickr has been stagnant for years and starting to worry me. I don't mind paying for a photo sharing service but the market sure is saturated. I'll be looking for a little more than a pretty, overpriced UI over Amazon's S3.

Wouldn't it be great if a company came around and offered front ends for S3. One for photo sharing, one for docs. You could switch them out like skins. Your data is in one place and never moves. If a competitor comes along with a better front-end, you could change to them.

That would also be nice, because then you could have one monthly fee for all of you online storage needs. Let's be honest, they're all hosted by Amazon anyway.

Can anyone explain to me how 37signals got all the way up on the high, preaching horse? Aside from a handful of well designed web apps that are used primarily by web dev's and designers, what makes their wisdom worthwhile? I'm sure this will get down-voted into oblivion but I am genuinely curious.

My thoughts exactly. While cutting out watching movies on Netfilx and TV is going to be difficult, I most definitely wont be purchasing any movies on iTunes, at Best Buy or going to a theater to watch them. If the tech community could band together to boycott these three huge money makers for the MPAA, we might see better results.

I've been using Instapaper for at least two years, and I've been following a handful of people since Twitter integration was implemented, but to this day I very rarely check the social sharing of articles on the service. There are already sites for sharing articles. Does anyone use the sharing features?

It sounds like a great idea, but I'm curious how it will perform along side a traditional file sharing system. I'm not sure users will find the benefit. Windows allows cacheing of shared drives already.
