Dover | San Francisco, CA | Senior Software Engineer | Full-time | ONSITE or REMOTE | https://www.dover.io/careers

Dover is a full-service sourcer for the fastest growing companies in North America. We help many top startups hire the best talent for their open roles by taking over their sourcing and scheduling.

The Dover engineering team is small but incredibly effective. We value productivity over face-time, action over inaction, and focus over feature creep.

As one of our first few engineers, you'll have a massive level of ownership over our engineering culture, end-to-end ownership over the systems that you build, and influence on product direction.

At the core of what we're building is a simple question—"is person X a good fit for job Y"—but doing this well is challenging, requiring a combination of large-scale data scraping, aggregation and processing. We pride ourselves in automating things nobody thought possible.

We primarily code in Python, with some occasional JavaScript. We leverage Kubernetes heavily for our orchestration and deployment. We also make extensive use of Google Cloud, Docker, Postgres, Mongo, and ElasticSearch within our infrastructure.

You're a full-stack or backend engineer with 3+ years of software experience at one or more companies with a strong engineering culture. You're ready to be an individual contributor, design and build sophisticated systems quickly, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Totally agree. We have a lot of builders on the platform already. We started with founders because that's the community we know best, but it's pretty easy to expand it to to all sorts of makers, builders, future founders--generally ambitious people.

Many good products start as a side project :)

Yeah, that's definitely a concern we've heard. We're starting with startup founders because that's a niche we know well, but it can work for any frequently traveling professional.

There's a big tailwind for more people traveling for work and working remotely, and staying 1+ weeks in a hotel/Airbnb is prohibitively expensive. There are startups working on solving this by creating their own custom spaces, but we know tons of people who just leave their room unoccupied because they don't want to deal with minor hassles like key exchange, cleanings, making sure the temporary visitors get along with roommates, etc. We think solving all that will open up a massive new supply of short to medium term housing.

Yes! We are alpha testing other locations and have around 25 homes between NYC, Boston, LA, and abroad. You can fill out the form and mention the city you'd like to go to in the freeform question, and we'll contact you!

Zinc | zinc.io | YC W14 | Head of Engineering

Zinc is an API to buy anything on the internet. We've built a profitable business with only two full-time team members -- the founders. Contact max@zinc.io for more details.

We've been working with these guys for several months now and the savings are pretty massive. On Amazon, in our experience, about 5-10% of purchases will qualify for a refund. It's a set-and-forget type service, so you literally don't have to do anything after signing up.

How Google Works 12 years ago

The slides, if not educational, are inspiring and elucidating . They might not reveal new insight, but frame existing insight in a way that's easy to understand.

We request permission for all websites since we are rapidly adding support for more retailers. We don't want to have to ask the user for new permissions every time we add a retailer.

Seems like Dropbox allows that many metadata calls. When I was testing this for myself, I started getting 429s when I would make 5+ refreshes in a minute, but it also rate limits on a user-by-user basis.

OP here. Like people have mentioned, it's the granularity of the Dropbox API. Sorry about that. The backdrop of the landing page is basically a screenshot of what your visualization will look like.
