unless you find yourself with an overwhelming number of customers all at once (which would be a nice problem to have), and that upgrade is what would have prevented a problem, trying to keep up-to-date before building the actual product just busy-work.

Grit by Angela Duckworth (https://www.amazon.com/Grit-Passion-Perseverance-Angela-Duck...) goes into deliberate practice quite a bit.

She talks about how deliberate practice is almost never enjoyable because you're trying to improve specific things, but it is how you attain mastery. The other side is "flow", when that mastery is display, and she mentions how it can look so effortless for top athletes, when it's almost definitely the result of hours and hours of deliberate practice.

https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/10/fashion/matt-jacobson-fac...

reminds of of something similar at fb with matt jacobson, who dresses well:

"And as one of the oldest and best-dressed executives at the company, he still looks completely out of place on Facebook’s campus. “I get stopped by security all the time because they think I am a visitor,” he said. “Security will come up to me, ask to see my visitor’s badge and say, ‘Who are you?’ ”"

A few things I've found helpful: - always have a detailed agenda well ahead of time so participants can prepare accordingly - there should be a specific outcome for the meeting, and the meeting can end once that's been achieved - there should be an owner of the meeting that holds the focus, and prevents it from getting derailed - default meetings to shorter than longer.

We're looking for people who like having ownership of the product, and can own the process from idea to development to deployment and maintenance.

For product, we're looking for someone to drive innovation and execute product initiatives across the company, working closely with the CTO and engineering team. We want someone who will take ownership over the ideation, technical development, launch, and measurement of success.

We're still a small team, so if you're looking to join a fast-growing startup and have an immediate impact, please reach out to careers@givecampus.com with a bit about why you're passionate about education, and a project you've working on that you're particularly proud of.
