Smart Launcher is the one I settled on after my last round of testing. Not perfect, but closer than most.

Pre-video ads should be 10% or less of the video length, floor at 30 seconds or so. Insane to get a long add on short video.

Yesterday at least. Same for me initially but now not so much. Time will tell. Current process is to disable the blockers then refresh until the video is served without an add, usually after two or three times, then re-enable.

Looks like there are plans to enable private worlds/servers at some point in the future.

One conversation I've noticed going on recently re Twitter and social media is the power of owned media, like podcast, email, and blogs, over walled gardens. Blogs, maybe "personal websites", are a home base. Maybe not the whole solution but a foundation.

Plan to Eat is pretty good overall. Cheap, good for planning meals and importing recipes.

Another author with similar distributed governing bodies as a basis for plot is Malka Older in the Infomacracy series with micro democracy.

All those are simple to set up in Notion. Both run via web app and can include categories, tags and additional information. They certainly target different audiences, but in my experience Notion isn't missing anything Raindrop has, it just adds more functionality. Raindrop works well, no doubt. It just doesn't add much functionality to browser based bookmarking.

Just use the notion clipper instead. Used this before but didn't provide much improvement on other solutions.

Totally not thought through, but it seems like it could be good if once a company hits a certain size they have to increase their difficulty level and only grown from the inside, no acquisitions.

But it's no data out of Europe, not no data. Don't want to be governed by EU privacy laws medium/long term?

We have a number of staff who use little ultrabooks for what is essentially a chrome kiosk(for documentation) and frequently discuss moving them over to Linux or Raspberry Pi because they would barely notice the change.

Unsurprising, and totally preventable by FB/Meta. Symptom of broader social issues, but in creating a community space without good defaults or planning they set themselves up to fail.

Also, during Beta?? Devolved fast. Couldn't be hard to verify and ban those involved.

Kotter's new book "Change" does a good job of highlighting various scenarios and aligning them with principles of effective, rapid change. One of many written by him on the subject.

This is where I always plug Infomacracy by Malka Older. Micro democracy with all voting blocks the same population size, can switch party/state.

The author, Cory, links to a previous explanation of when he quit smoking he converted the cost into getting a new laptop annually. As he mentioned in the article he typically finds a new home for the used device. Laptop appears to be his primary device and critical to his work so updates annually makes sense, though a new device is partially due to the construction framework elimates(i.e. riveted or glued components).

A great book series that touches on "micro-democracy" in a fictional setting is Malka Older's Infomacracy series. Highly recommend along these lines.
