We record the players' screens (with their permission) in iOS, Android and browser games.

We offer a free trial - would love for you to try it out and let us know what you think!

1. A process engine that can execute a process given as an EPC (ideally with an embeddable gui editor). The app notifies the API of event completions and the API allows you to query the current state of the process.

2. An embeddable survey tool like SurveyGizmo, but completely whitelabelable, including the survey editor

3. An API for benchmark scores for iOS and Android devices (give me all devices that are as fast or faster than a Samsung Galaxy S6)

4. An embeddable private commenting tool (like Disqus, but for the back-office parts of the website)

I founded a startup called PlaytestCloud a while back to tackle this problem for mobile games. We have quite a few customers who build really basic prototypes and use our product to test that with outside players from early on. (It‘s important to test with outsiders because your friends might be too kind to you)

WebGL Water (2011) 9 years ago

Are there any more modern real-time water effects out there/being researched? This basic effect has been around for a while now.

I agree with randall. Tests ensure that you build your software right, as opposed to building the right software. A large test suite impedes how fast you can deliver new features.

We wrote tests for PlaytestCloud only after we acquired the first paying customers.

The tests only ensured that customer-facing routes would not crash. It was a good balance to ensure that we could move quickly while ensuring that we didn't introduce catastrophic bugs.

I never understood the obsession with swear words in source code comments or 'creative' variable naming.

It's childish, and I don't think the authors themselves found it funny anymore once they got off their caffeine high.

The more code you roll yourself the higher the likelihood that you will have to fix critical bugs on a Saturday night at 1am. It will happen.

I'm starting to get tired of this 'we don't need no suits' talk on HN. You need a marketing strategy, regardless of how good your game is.

Publishers have the know how and capital to devise and implement such a strategy. Don't make the mistake to assume that they are just there to take a cut of your profits without putting any value on the table.

Just use linked lists. If it turns out to be a performance problem (my guess: it won't) you can change the data structure later.
