As a programmer with a felony (Possession of a controlled substance) I can tell you that by far the greatest hurdle is getting past a background check. I am in the process of finding a new job and I am currently awaiting a decision for the THIRD time on whether my felony will keep me from being hired. In the past month and a half I have been extended offers on two positions only to have them rescinded after they do the background check. I should note I was very honest and upfront about what they would find beforehand. It is starting to become pretty frustrating. I have been clean for 3 years now and have even provided letters of recommendation from rehabilitation program supervisors as well as a letter from my sentencing judge. I have no violent crimes in my background just some possession/drug related charges the most recent of which was in 2013. I paid my debt to society, or so I thought. It appears the worst part of my sentence is having the felony on my record that I cannot have expunged until January of 2024 at the earliest. </rant>

My Toshiba Satellite S55t-B has the Toshiba-eco utility that allows me to put it in eco-charge mode which also keeps the battery at a max-charge of 80%.

So I threw this into a website to try and load some data into a table, and get: XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://sheetsu.com/apis/d54d6315?sort=Description&order=asc. No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. How do I handle that?

The Polymer project from Google is something I've been following and I feel like it holds a lot of potential... Why hasn't it gained traction? Web components seem to be a great vision of the future of web design/development.

I've been following and using Foundation since some of it's earliest incarnations and I love it more with every release. It's a great framework and the grid is just comfortable. Also, very nicely done responsiveness (as in responsive design).

The guys behind it are great too. I've had questions answered quickly by the devs, and they even sent me some stickers and this weird wooden puzzle thing that I keep on my desk!

tl;dr - Definitely worth checking out.

I'm right in the middle of making this decision as well. We are aiming for a RESTful APIWCF suppo Service to perform CRUD operations on JSON serialized EF objects. On the client-side HTML5/JS. MS has made there intentions quite confusing, but from atleast one article I read MS doesn't intend to extend support for WCF past years end, and that WebApi is the way to go..... so I don't know... I'm in the midst of trying out WebApi now.

I must admit, that I am guilty of being a double-spacer. Your argument and sources however seem to be sound, so I think I shall give a go at doing it the correct way from now on. I've been becoming more and more interested in typography lately, so let's bring this movement to the forefront and starting single spacing after punctuation again!

(Notice: The double-space has been so ingrained in my typing for so many years, I even did it in this comment without even realizing it!)

Looks cool, but any time I try to click on anything, I get a OSX-style error dialog saying the app has become unresponsive. Using Google Chrome 16.0.912.75 m on Windows 7. But I must say it looks impressive up to that point! =P

I think it is an awesome idea. He's going to have to use public domain books only, unless he perhaps was able to setup some sort of premiere version where users paid a subscription fee to view copyrighted books - but then he'd have to work out some sort of deal with the publishers. I think it is a great concept worth pursuing further. I signed up for Sun Tzu's Art of War, looking forward to the first chapter!

I think some good points are made in this post. People need to start implementing or at least, work toward implementation of changes to the status quo, whatever the industry/sector may be. Unless that happens, it is all moot.

I discovered ZURB's Foundation 1-2 months ago, and I absolutely fell in love with it. My only problem is I started developing a site with it, and before I knew it they had already shipped out a new version - they are apparently at a stage where their release cycle is pretty quick. I ended up deciding to take a day to convert the project over to the latest version of Foundation, 2.1.3 as of this writing.... here is their github repository: https://github.com/zurb/foundation - I love it.

I personally think this is an awesome idea, I hope it gains some traction, it really is niche that needs to be filled.
