Startups = have few resources, product has to work or company dies

Big tech = minimal cost of failure, instead minimizing risk

We started this because we were building https://www.parsnip.ai/, an app to help people learn how to cook. But then that became a bit of a yak shave because we realized we first had to figure out how to teach people different skills at different times all starting from different places, and also needed to help fund the creation of the app.

We ended up generalizing the platform to education in other domains (K-12, higher ed, workforce) as B2B2B "AI learning infrastructure" but still have our cooking app which is also starting to take advantage of this R&D finally coming to fruition!

Apple accidentally has a giant moat in having the only hardware that can run AI models locally on consumer products, plus not having thrown a huge pile of money into the tar pit of model training, which is ultimately becoming a race to the bottom with identical products, perfect competition, and razor thin (currently negative) margins.

They're gonna be fine in the AI age just like Costco was able to be a honey badger about e-commerce.

Even those new startups still require products to be built in a productive and sustainable way beyond the first prototype...
