It’s always funny when you read something and think the exact opposite thing for every point.

I guess what initially converted me was dealing with a data flow that hovered at about 10 requests/min and then every hour jumped to 10k requests/min. Being able to do that without thinking about scaling or cost really changed the way I imagined data flows in the backend.

I guess now that I have boilerplate of code that works and its quickly deployed and tested with GH actions, I consider it a no brainer for most workflows.

I ended up having replace a compact with a crossover mainly to stop getting blinded by headlights at night time. It was getting way too dangerous. I tinted the back window, but was still getting blinded in the side mirrors.

If statements that either add conditional statements or blank lines to the SQL block. There are a lot of tradeoffs to the pure SQL method but I prefer being able to look up exact snippets in the codebase to find things.

Punchy commonly translates to “compressed” and warm to “saturated/distorted”. Volume will of course help, but it’s not always what people want.

A very large percentage of federal possession cases are drug smuggling at border crossings. This amendment is to keep those people locked up since their initial charge of “possession” was chosen over illegal border crossing or whatever else since it was probably a) easier to prosecute, and b) carried a harsher sentence

GraphQL Is a Trap? 4 years ago

It just needs better middleware to handle all the BS. The problem it solves makes it extremely useful (if implemented correctly… thats a big if, I know)

About a year ago my dog (~7mo at the time) would lunge at the ravens and try to chase them even though he was on a leash. I changed my route to prevent that behavior, but the ravens remembered both of us.

One morning they flew above us with a rotting sausage and dropped it right in front of my dog and waited for him to eat it. I had to pull it out of his mouth and when I looked up the ravens were all watching us.

I can’t say for sure, but it certainly felt like revenge.

For many people (myself included), the ease of writing python jumpstarted my journey to eventually learning everything else you mentioned gradually.

If I would have had to learn it immediately I most likely would’ve felt disinterested and overwhelmed and given up since I didn’t know yet why I needed to learn it.

I’m one of these people. The reality is that I am too tall to fit comfortably in the seat and need to stretch my legs to get the blood flowing since it is hard to sit with your knees compressed for long periods of time.

Go read the current financial position yourself. The hedge funds still have to buy over 100% of the total amount of GME shares to cover their short positions. To do that they need to buy existing shares at current market value or they go bankrupt. Its a vicious cycle. Go look at previous short squeezes that have happened.

Nope, a lot of the wallstreetbets community are in this because they recognize that squeezing an over-leveraged short position will make a stock go vertical until bankruptcy or govt intervention.

I think they absolutely know they can lose it all. But the risk/reward ratio was so amazing it made sense to throw money at it and see what happens.
