The earth will be fine. I'm sure during the ice ages with gigatons of water trapped on the surface in glacial ice it would have had to changed the tilt also and the planet survived.

The earth is such a large and variable system that over the long term, humans can't significantly permantly change something like weight distribution.

The Kolbalt 80V line was made by Greenworks, which makes excellent products for pros. I have the Kobalt 80V blower and it is an excellent blower (loud) and is just a rebranded 80V Greenworks. Not Harbor Freight cheapness for sure. I also have the 80V mower and trimmer and they too are just rebranded Greenworks tools. Excellent products overall.

I love the channel and have been watching for a few years. I agree that videos are the flashy things but in some ways videos have ruined the internet for me a bit (not your channel though). What I mean is if I'm trying to learn how to do something and search for a solution, I find a gazillion videos and will be lucky to find a page that has succinct, written instructions. It's very infuriating. So, I often (almost always) have to watch a 10 or 15 minute video for 2 minutes of information instead of having written info that gets to the point. Keep up the good work on Tech Tangents, its awesome.

This is the answer. My work tablets are android based and taking pictures isn't supposed to be part of the workflow, but sometimes by using random button presses, you can accidentially bring up the camera/gallery (its supposed to be locked out, but our IT dept didn't do a good job of totally locking it out).

Fellow caveman here. That's the way I've been doing it for years also, haha. Just tried Sharedrop.io mentioned in another post on HN and it works great if your phone and computer are on the same network (make sure your VPN is off if you have one).

If you get inspected at a weigh station, they for sure are looking at that ELD records. Its probably the first thing they do. They don't automatically inspect you, only if you're overweight or if they see other problems such as vehicle safety issues, placards, etc. Once you are in the inspection process its a certainty that your hours will be looked at as well as every little safety and regulatory requirement.

It all depends on the vendor. The software that our company uses is totally locked down and it would be very difficult or impossible to run a ghost driver on it (I'm a local city driver, BTW, and Hours of Service rules apply to me also). Our software is tied to the time clock so when we physically punch in, the clock starts regardless on if we are logged in to the ELD tablet or not. It's still keeping track though.

Yes, its an app. There isn't a single generic ELD hardware device. Every trucking company decides what device is best for their needs. My company uses Samsung Galaxy tablets. These devices do much more than just track ELD.

They're not burning drive hours, they're burning on-duty hours which are also limited. You are limited to 14 hours of on-duty time. You are also limited to 11 hours of actual driving time out of those 14 hours. So, I guess if you are delayed more than 3 hours (minus breaks) you are kinda eating into drive hours because of the on-duty limit of 14.

Not sure why, but watching this makes me very anxious. Especially when the second hand is bending,just before it springs loose. Neat idea though.

I suspect the real problem is that someone plugs in a device via HDMI, switches the input to that HDMI port, watches a movie, does some work on their laptop, etc, and then doesn't change the input back to the default hotel tv input. The next guest checks in and can't figure out how to change the input then calls and complains. They are just trying to avoid going to dozens of rooms everyday just to change inputs. Instead of a obviously false and misleading sign, they should just have the housekeepers make sure the tv is on the right input when they clean the room between guests.

As someone who doesn't program/code at all, I don't care how it arrives at the result. It's just amazing to me that if I need a simple script or program, I can have an AI write usable code that I can use.

Pretty amazing stuff. I used this prompt to have ChatGPT write me a coin flip game in python that flips a coin x amount of times and displays the result: "create a game in python to flip a coin x amount of times and show the results when done" It came back with python code that ran perfectly when saved into a .py file without having to make any changes.

Awesome game. I agree that left click to rotate left and right click to rotate right would be so much more convenient.
