Maybe I’m taking crazy pills, but I’m still stuck on “why the hell does a TUI need to run in terminal React by way of JavaScript”

No, you are not crazy. They do crazy things with unlimited budget, and still their chat app flickers when using.

They should just port pi-tui from pi coding agent, since they have no clue.

The fact that individuals are more likely to use the alternatives than businesses is telling.

Anthropic is fine, as long as someone else (a clueless employer drinking Dario Koolaid) is paying for it. But the moment you have to pay for it, people just bail and go for DeepSeek, Kimmi, OpenRouter, OpenCode Go and other alternatives that give more bang for the buck than Anthropic.

Close vote?

They passed a regulation with 276 votes in favor, 314 votes against, and 17 abstained. The minority decided instead of the majority.

If this is not a dictatorship, what is it then? In any case, it has nothing to do with the democracy.

Yes, this basically means the EU pushed a new censorship regulation using lawfare tricks without ever having a majority vote for the proposal.

If it's not a dictatorship, a regime, a shithole, a kleptocracy, or whatever name they use for a government they don't like, I don't know what it is.

Constructive argument? Just disband the EU as a whole, including all laws, treaties, contracts ...

Europe would be a much better place if the EU stayed what it was, a trade union of sovereign nations without any political power over the people.

And so, step by step, in the name of child protection and similar excuses, we lose liberties and rights one by one.

Welcome to the Brave New 1984 We World. Big Brother loves us.

We are living through the time best described by Zamyatin, Orwell, and Huxley.

... these elected people act as tsars, ...

They are not elected. Even the EU is illegal, since joining the EU was rejected by people of many European countries, but that was ignored.

They just do what they want and do thorough media coverage. In rare cases that doesn't work, people just dissapear.

I wish you were right, but the EU only needs Google and Apple, both having big EU businesses, to block Signal.

Google is already working on closing the possibility to install apps from outside the app store, Apple has been like that since forever. The fact that a few technically savvy users with rooted phones will still be able to use Signal doesn't mean anything. It will be dead if the EU decides they don't want it.

The fact that OM leadership pulled the same open-closed game twice is telling. Many open source contributors who donated their private time and effort to the project just didn't want to do that any more when OM leadership started the game again.

That's the main reason they forked and started a new project.

True, but OpenCode Go gives 6x tokens on Flash and 1.5x tokens on DeepSeek Pro. After exhausting the monthly quota, Flash price is the same as directly from DeepSeek, while Pro is 4x pricier.

The issue with beer hall demagogue is that their rise has been made only while the society at that time was so devastated in every sense (morally, economically, ...) that people saw them as the only hope against the status quo.

That's the moral of the story: if the present is so bad, and the elites refuse to change anything and just go push for their agendas against the will and the interest of common people, common people will support the devil himself if he is the only one promising he'll do something different.

As for WW3, well, there's a diaper-wearing senile old man, with an inferiority complex to boot, in charge of a nuclear arsenal and major conventional forces.

How naive one must be to consider this NPC as the biggest threat to human kind since the dawn of man.

It's not that single person who threatens the world, it's the complete American elite and the whole American society who push for wars and more wars, and the current NPC of the day in the office is just their tool.

Of course people want the best model available, even at 10x costs, if they are not paying for it. If the company is paying, why wouldn't you want a 2% better model?

That changes as soon as the developer is the one paying for a model. Then it's a classical engineering trade-off between money and quality, and that's where open models are clear winners.

And usually taxes become a challenge only when there is anything to tax or book.

Not in Germany. Having a GmbH or UG is enough.

Are you "forced" to have a Steuerberater without revenue?

Yes, and that costs quite a bit.

I was arguing that the cost of running a “cheap” UG is closer to the cost of running GmbH than running a LLC.

And these 25k, although a big burden, are not costs or fees. Once paid they are part of company balance which you can use to pay company expenses.

The real costs are running costs, and those are very close for UG and GmbH.

Start capital is not the only capital you need.

UG forces you to pay 3-4.000€ per year on tax compliance. LLC costs 200-300$.

Not sure you are arguing in good faith.

You are the one completely ignoring the running costs of UG (the same or bigger than GmbH) just to make UG look better than it really is. Now, please tell who is not arguing in good faith?
