As a society we have undertaken massive efforts to reduce all of those. Certainly debatable if it's been enough but ignoring the new thing by putting zero effort in while it's still formative seems short-sighted.
Could this be applied to other models like Llama2 or Mistral?
I think this is part of why they’re so expensive. If you can only go off reputation, you pay for it.
Kinda reminds me of all the early Twitter clones where you could post 141 or unlimited or whatever size posts. Just thinking that mathematically bigger is immediately better in all dimensions seems like a common fallacy.

Different situation but I have a 6yo with downs and this rings true to me.
He’s always trying to crack a joke. He’ll say loudly “good night Uschi!” (his grandmother’s nickname) to my wife with a grin on his face like he made the funniest joke. Not Seinfeld over here but we laugh pretty hard.

Why do we need a special case law for this? Seems like it should already be covered.
I'm not sure what's factually incorrect, as you mention the article says they support it. But their default instructions are very vague about it.

Way down they say "Optionally, configure encrypted logging with TLS." but don't mention it in the intro paragraphs, or that it's a best-practice, or that people should do it... just that it's "optional".

It’s likely a totally different product, the seeds just give a verified shipping history. They review the other product on their own account that “ordered” the seeds. The seeds are cheap and make it untraceable back to the original product.

The rules can be very subjective and inconsistently applied.
We don’t need to build more things without a market, we need to buy more things that are built right. There’s a surgical mask manufacturer in the states who had capacity a few weeks ago but no hospital would sign a contract, they wanted masks immediately and then go straight back to buying from Asia once this blows over. This same thing could be said for many other categories in the post.
If you buy it, people will build it.

Without the exclusivity agreement, it sounds like you wouldn’t have been reconnected. A community provider probably wouldn’t allocate 70k in capital to bring 3 (potential) customers online.
So you’re benefitting by the subsidy of users in denser areas being forced into exclusivity.

Anyone have a reference for fire area in all these places? All the stories I’ve seen use “number of fires” which seems useless to figure out severity/comparisons.
But I wouldn’t call the disease “cured”.
You need all of that (structures, algorithms, confidence, etc), especially if you're going for a FAANG. But the biggest thing I see new grads lacking is the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in the workplace and on teams. At most smaller startups that's maybe even more important than raw ability.
Find any way you can to gain practical experience. Internships, consulting, open-source. Really anything. The bonus is that you'll gain confidence through this path as well. You'll know you're capable of doing the full job (not just the work).
My hunch is that you have a blind spot that’s getting you flagged at the recruiter stage. I’ve interviewed a ton of devs, I’d be happy to run through a sample interview and give you feedback if you’re up for it.
All of the other browsers shouldn’t worry about store nonsense, just ship u-block by default and enabled. Fight fire with fire.

I've been thinking a lot about the compression in salaries lately. More from the stance that if senior developer salaries are incrementally higher than junior that it seems like building an all-senior team would have business value. Maybe that's all obviated by the new tech/learning, but in my experience seniors greatly outperform juniors when you're dealing with hard problems.
Not sure about the "oh it's so easy to start your thing, just do it" part of the article though.
The frustrating thing to me is that this guy will get this solved and we’ll all move on. He’s reasonably well known and had enough Twitter juice to get attention. All the small people who end up in this situation, whatever it truly is, without those resources will remain screwed.
