I appreciate your honest feedback and we are constantly finding ways to improve our messaging. To address your concerns:

1) This site is for experienced developers who already have a job and interested in opportunities but not looking. That layer is only for recruiters that have serious positions they are offering geared towards your profile.

2) Recruiters already pay to mail you, the difference in this case is that you get money for your time talking to them.

Well to reveal more of the strategy behind that, my team and I are tackling the DMV area first. The recruiters are pretty aggressive with contacting professionals in this area. The developers have developed a blindness to these type of emails. The theory is if we create a pay wall only serious inquiries will pass through and create better response rates to recruiters from tech professionals.

Exactly but this email address can be used also for people that try to contact you for advice. I know when I go to meetups people who have THIS GREAT BUSINESS IDEA feel the need to present to me with no validation and try to bring me to their team. This email will be given to them and produce higher quality requests being sent in general.
