Having read a lot on this subject, it would appear that while cardio is great for overall health, it doesn't do much for weight loss. It's basically burning a few cals - but it doesn't really affect "homeostasis". What does affect that is weight training.

Thats fine for some. Run on revues and retire in 40 years satisfied. But sometimes other founders need financing to build the things they love, and that require capital. European banks are not good at risk capital. So you're going to have to get it from somewhere. If eventually a founder has a big exit, maybe they can finance their OWN NEXT STARTUP? How about that for you?
Which shows how much you know about the area. Datasift is not even based in London, it's in Reading. Here's a list for you to peruse http://www.builtinlondon.co/
Everyone here is welcome to look at a good selection of "Silicon Roundabout Web companies" and realise that there is a huge diversity, far beyond the stupid characterisation that they are built-to-flip app/web crap: http://www.builtinlondon.co/
Great post Nixey!
It's very common now for European startups to have a UK LTD as well for later exit purposes.
Er, cough, Spotify...?
TC broke it first.
Another place to "hang out and work on an idea" is http://techhub.com @TechHub, a little like a KickLabs but without a fund. But Y-Com 'equivalents' would be Seedcamp (takes 8-10% of a startup) or The Difference Engine programme which is moving to Cambridge (just outside London)
We're slowly building out our network of writers across greater Europe's 45 territories. Media is a marathon, not a sprint... ;-)
Fear not - the kind of thing I did with GeeknRolla #gknr is something I want to replicate again. The trick is in the content and the vibe. Stay tuned... @mikebutcher
