The way to control the epidemic is to make enough people immune to drive it to extinction. It would be preferable to use all available means to attain that. This way you protect all people (not only the people who got the treatment), including the vulnerable ones.

Have you read the FDA's article? Let me summarize. Thou shalt not use Ivermectin because:

Taking large doses of this drug is dangerous and can cause serious harm.

Ivermectin is not a newly-discovered drug. There were hundereds of millions of courses administered world wide (it even got a Nobel prize). It has been used for decades. [1]

The only unknown right now is the long term effect of ivermectin in patients with covid. It seems to me that it's the same unknown as with the vaccines. You don't have a clinical trial for effects of the vaccines after 5 years, do you? Why don't we wait for it, just to make sure? And it's even worse for the mRNA vaccines, which have not been around for decades and only got the emergency authorization.

Btw the emergency authorization can only be granted by the FDA if there are no alternatives. [2]

For FDA to issue an EUA, there must be no adequate, approved, and available alternative to the candidate product for diagnosing, preventing, or treating the disease or condition.

I'm not sure if "approved" (as a treatment for covid) would have applied to Ivermectin at the time the EUA was granted but it's not like there were trials to decide that.

Bret (Eric's brother, biology PhD) had a 2h long conversation with Pierre Kory (MD) and it was taken down by YT. One of the things they talked was the recommendations of WHO and other organisations to focus on supportive care only (supporting the patient while their organism fights the disease by itself). They insist on not using other treatments outside clinical trials. The argument that running experiments would cost lives doesn't seem coherent. It's not like we have this 100+ yrs practice of dealing with SARS-CoV-2 epidemic with well established protocols. What if we're clinging to a suboptimal strategy?

Then how can you explain no correlation before the daughter has become a teenager? If I understood you correctly, you suggest that parents of daughters divorce more often because the daughter was born to a couple of stressed parents (which is more likely to happen than a boy born to that family). If that would be the only cause of the divorce (I'm oversimplyfying, of course), then there would be no difference whether the daughter is a teenager or not. Perhaps parents think of taking care of a child in their first years of life as a moral obligation, which would reduce the divorce rate. However, it's still suspicious that the divorce occurs around the time the daughter reaches puberty, not some time earlier (after she's 5 or something).

I'd also really like to just be able to interact with a keyboard like other apps i.e. receive keyup events, reading multiple keys at once etc. Kitty has something like that but popular libraries don't support it. I've had many ideas for terminals games and apps but didn't continue because of these limitations.

Sounds like a cool idea. I encourage you to try. It would be cool in the future to have some easy tool to start a personal Internet Space built on top of some open protocols to easily communicate and share data but still own the thing.

I'm in the process of gathering some friends and we plan to start a blog/newsletter, just for us. We're going to share our projects, achievements and cool stuff we enjoy. We've already had a small success - I connected two of my friends who study Psychology and Biomedical Engineering at different universities and together we're going to write an article about differences in brain structure and behavior.

I think your point has its limitations but is quite important. "Just turn off FB" sounds similar to "Just build your own social media", it may be seen as too limiting.

On the other hand I think people against non-censored speech often frame the receivers of the message as somehow mindless. Now that I think about it, censoring people on social media (i.e. deplatforming Trump) implies that users have no free will (whatever that means) and can only act as an obedient crowd. From that perspective, everyone who might become a leader of the masses seems dangerous and requires intervention. Not only that, their followers are also potentially dangerous, just not powerful enough. To me such attitude is in contradiction with individual's freedom to express their views but also a denial of existence of freedom to act in accordance with one's views.
