There's no end to it, just like there's no end to the pretend tolerance and pretend generosity by using other peoples' money for ideas they have no desire to contribute to, but are forced to at gunpoint and prison threat (taxation).

Consumption has many reasons. some buy unnecessary things to build on other things. People who buy a boat or vacation envision sharing it with their friends.

People who buy the latest too envision building amazing things of high quality for people, or they see themselves doing something in less time.

People who buy things also invent other things. The world gets more complex. it's not that mysterious and has little to do with the victorian age, other than maybe it was actually documented. It's a shame to lay blame on a particular people of an era, as the sole originator of something that's subjectively called "bad" just because those people happened to be the ones who actually wrote down what they did for the future to learn from.

Consumption. Think about it. The victorian age? Tryu harder. Why do you think throughout history, kings had huge feasts and dozens concubines. Because they had the time and the opportunity.

Read all the stories about sexual harassment? Anecdotally I've seen just as much sexual language coming from women in IT as men in terms of workers. Project mgrs, network admins, probably a few more. And those instances were miniscule and didn't make up anywhere near a day to day problem for people.

I have seen instances where a guy who was being a dick treated women poorly. He got a talking to and cut that out. I've seen women take their day out on men and women and never got any kind of talking to. It's really funny you're pointing to some sort of dysfunction and not demonstrating or sourcing anything but "all those stories"

feel free to source that in a way that can be proven. The assertion is just pseudo intellectual excuse making. Society is NOT telling women to NOT be sanitation workers. Society is not telling women not to work on offshore oil rigs. Society is not telling women not to be surgeons but to in fact be veterinarians. Society and "gender role" excuses don't hold up to reality. Time to accept that the women you know, or imagine you know make their choices, largely based on their own interests.

You're welcome to try to convince women to become sanitation workers rather than paralegal interns in climate controlled offices. Good luck on that.

I saw the Pizza gate content rise up from seemingly out of nowhere. Thing is though, the core of it, without making any specific accusations is there is really weird stuff going on in those emails from wikileaks dump. Strange coded language when they are talking about kids and pizza. And that pizza restaurant had some really strange things posted on their social media too. (Strange enough that they would later delete it.)

After looking long enough at it, basically PizzaGate warrants just as much suspicion for me as any JFK theory at this point. I believe there's something to it. There is a mountain of little details that make it impossible to flat out deny it, I just don't go as far as levying accusations at people withouth knowing facts. Others have accused people w/o evidence beyond a reasonable doubt and I think that's wrong. I think the police should be interested in Pizza Gate, and I think a few of them are. But again I don't go further than that.

What people think bubbled over Pizza Gate was that guy with the gun who went in the restaurant. But actually that smelled like a hoax to me. It just seemed wildly incomplete and a convenient way to say "See what fake news does!" And that guy had a strange background with him, and the media chose NOT to go too deep into his story either. It was like they just needed that for their narative.

The "screentime" argument, not a very good one. Trump has had more criticism and negative press flung at him than probably anyone alive EVER in just the last year, from almost every country on earth. Eastern Europe was getting just as much anti-trump media as the United States. I guess you could call that "screen time" too.

Just saying Trump had more screen time is a small picture of what the media have been doing to Trump. The lack of screentime for Clinton was a benefit as we saw. We actually saw correlation with lower national polling the more screen time she got. The more she was under wraps (remember the LONG countdown since she had had a press conference, it had been something like 250 days I think). Many talking heads were saying that was on purpose.

All these "phobia" labels get applied to people who just want others to obey the laws. Even intelligent tech minded people just don't seem to understand this.

You can get a lot of ideas quickly from using the 99 designs type sites. Basically logo farms kind of pull stuff from their reserves and some of them might stick. Lots of cell shaded games. Attack on Titan is pretty awesome for looking like the actual show while playing. Japanese games are huge with this. And as far as the places that have refugees where people are not happy about it, many people are insisting that refugees "help the economy" as a reason it should continue of course it's a narrow assessment and totally invalidates citizens concerns and that's the problem. Not to mention those pushing for refugees never seem to live in the neighborhoods where the burden or problems will need shouldered. It's always some moral stance rather than an empirical one and frankly a citizens preference to not have to deal with the trouble should be the first consideration but lately it hasn't been.

It does get more attention because liberals have been trying to crack Japan for a long time through propaganda, trying to insist that Japan NEEDs to change. Of course these liberals are racist and hate cultural and tradition and always want to create upheaval and are rightly disregarded by Japan BECAUSE it has strong tradition.

You strike me as somebody young, uninformed likely never raised a child. Tradition is what ties together the past present and future of humans. Most would say tradition is a major part of quality of life and in some cases, the only thing in life and part of living life in peace. The world is built on tradition, patterns, cultural ties. It's almost like asking 'what's so wrong with complete chaos in your life?" Seriously?

What about wealth and income inequality? Income inequality is everywhere and will always be, unless you want communism, in which case you end up with disastrous conditions and likely mass murder. What is there in terms of social justice? Well considering that people there live their lives making their own choices, that they have ample opportunity by and large for education and choosing careers, what's the problem? Nothing really, unless of course a western liberal shows up and tries to invent problems like they always do in order to usurp unearned power over others.

Adding more immigrants is a good way to destabilize the country. Just be the change you want to see. Man up, and create. Building things rather than destabilizing or disrupting other people is always the best thing for everyone. Just saying "oh all of you need to change, so let's bring in immigrants to force you" is a really strange mindset. It sounds quite unpatriotic to me.

Why do you have to find a new vendor? This story has little to no information and you certainly don't have multiple sides to the story. New York is extremely hostile when it comes to collecting settlements and fines of retail establishments. There are stories of restaurants getting railroaded by inspectors to the point where it's clearly a kickback operation.

I'd stick with BH through this. Warehouse bathrooms are notoriously disgusting and race has nothing to do with it. Tribalism of this kind of stuff is pathetic.

You wonder what reason? I've never been to BH, but warehouse people almost always have a different bathroom to use than customers or even retail employees. Mostly because of location to said bathroom. And to say a bathroom is unsanitary in a warehouse, yeah that's pretty common and has nothing to do with race. It has almost everything to do with how people take care of it.

Was this worker able to speak english well? Could s/he articulate that the bathroom needs to be fixed or cleaned regularly? Was there an employee tasked with that particular bathroom and did they not do their job, were they instead slacking or not informed of that.

Curious also what is the demeanor and look to these employees? Were they scummy warehouse workers who would be a poor showing to BH customers. Perhaps they were breaking company rules of their own by showing up to work looking and smelling like garbage. Maybe their behavior is offputting to customers because they don't have politeness training that the other retail employees are trained or have naturally.

ehh well they are rich in that they own actual infrastructure, not just say a digital infrastructure. They often own content networks and of course plenty of IP, so they do fine. When you see telecom failing it's generally them letting themselves get raped due to contracts that serve people internally that they've enjoyed passing off to their customers without care.
