Many people here don't understand refer.ly because they aren't the target audience.

Referly is all about getting influencers and trendsetters paid. Thats it. Existing affiliate programs are broken and a UX that caters to that category is important for adoption. Its as simple as that.

Its current phase is only to build out the product and get their name out there to the smaller influencers from bloggers to those with relatively small following. The real money will come in when you start seeing Shaq's tweets with referly links.

I would add health/physical debt. Many people discount the impact of those extra pounds gained during an unhealthy streak of eating. They not only put you on an unhealthy trajectory that requires a ton of effort to reverse, but they also have many hidden and side effects that unfortunately we can't measure/identify until later on. And that, I guess, is why we discount the health debt.

Yaaa....I think this flew over your head. You are saying that, for example, Wolfram Alpha is like Google. They are completely different: One gives you links that you still have to go through to reach what you need and one gives you a direct answer. Even Woz said in his interview on TC...we don't need search engines, we need answer engines. To say Siri is a search engine with voice to text is a great mistake. Voice recognition is just the outer layer that makes the experience a human experience.

I don't take the words of the author as a prophecy but I see where he is going; and isn't that what science fiction authors kinda did 20-30 years ago? They dreamt; and I wish more people can dream of greater possibilities.

if you added all the above, might as well squeeze me in too :) mahmoud dot m dot h at gmail . Thanks

In downtown where cars are bumper to bumper, the location of the green laser would require a sharp downward angle to see it; which begs the question, does this just add another spot that drivers need to check now?

I can see it working in more open roads where this would be easy to see up ahead, but when space gets narrow, the visibility angle becomes tough.

Valiant effort though.

Radical innovation is not about making things more efficient, or simpler, or easier, in broad terms. It's about investing in transformative technologies.

I agree with you that radical innovation doesn't come from just making things more efficient/simpler/easier, and I've argued that such a mindset yields local max solutions. The example of Fabricly was only used to display how an approach that addresses the problem from the root and transforms the way an industry operates is what radical innovation is (not about social shopping). Your definition seems to confine it to cutting edge industries with cutting edge technology; however, radical innovation could be in retail/food/other age old industries as much as it could be in space/biotech. Radical innovation is ultimately about the transformative result and technology is only a means to get there.

Thanks for your support. When I saw a picture and a name in my news feed on facebook I had the same feeling as you describe. I believe as people we have come desensitized to hearing massive numbers of people being killed all over the world, but when a face is put to a name, and in this case when a whole profile is put to the name, the world might really feel the magnitude of the loss and its every individual.

I'm Mahmoud, the guys at 1000memories are referring to.

I think that Rudy, Jonathan, and Brett had the right intentions with this post, but it backfired without having provided the proper context (which they tried to add in the comments here).

I contacted the guys yesterday with an idea for a project they can help execute with me and a group I'm working with. The idea was basically to setup individual pages for each individual that has lost his/her life during the Egyptian revolution. I thought having their families see the whole world's supporting messages could give them comfort and some closure.

The one thing that was missing was a front page that would combine all their profiles that would be a group memorial for visitors to land on first. I fired off the email and went to bed. I woke up 5am in the morning with 3 emails from Jonathan and an initial page already designed. I can't tell you how appreciative I was for the quick response and immediate action on their part. With this post specifically, the guys acted in the best interest of moving the project forward, but they just missed providing the proper context. It happens...so lets move on

This is an early project that needs all your help to improve it and promote it to something that makes these families proud.

I hope I brought some clarity to the situation.

great job guys. I like the minimalist and clean design approach. I took the quiz and got my wife to do it too as we have just redecorated, and the answers were quite accurate about our style inclinations. Good to see a quality start. I think the tough part now is to integrate this with multiple channels that could create the revenue. I would suggest to start by approaching fashion/interior designers as they would find immediate value to provide their clients with the use of this tool. Good luck.
