Orville Wright could have explained the reduced drag asociated with a higher aspect wing in 1902, perhaps useing his own terminology as airodynamics as a concept was still stuck in he and his brothers heads for the most part, but was very well known by 1910 and on up. Airbus should probably stick to structural engineering refinement, which they are rather good at, and not try and sell themselves as inovators, which they are not.

for every attempt to chop a photon in half, you would miss, several times, there bieng impossibly large numbers of photons everywhere to chop.at, bringing us to the impossibility of chopping photons in half in the first place, if it was possible, the impossibly vast number of photons interacting with everything would yield chopped up photons as a natural side effect of all of interactions, and we dont get those

Awareness is helpfull, but becoming habitualy non partisipatory by turning java script, cookies, and DOM storage off is also good. flip the script, and default to a system where seeing or going further requires real work, like copy and pasteing a url, and opening it in an alternative browser that may, possibly, show the paywall. or for realy tedious stuff, install an up to date "all in" browser for a specific task, and then un install it, which for me is always a shock, to see what a jiggling mess of horror the "real" net looks like, which unfortunatly a small but significantly dedicated bunch of seriously fucked up people are emulating on the street, for which I am bieng hired to physicaly deter and disuade with strategicly placed metal screens, guards, gates and barriors. So in my world the whole adversurvailence aparatus is comming full circle, providing leads through an internet I dont see, to deal with the results that everybody has no option not too.

The zionists entity is crumbling and it will be destroyed. There is a place for all religions in Palestine though the shock of the comeupance may likely cause the eurocentric countries to try and pretend that it no longer exists, but of course such a luxury may be beyond there means in a world where such blatant double standards, perversions and inequities are targeted and reduced. Shame on the world.

In a world on the brink, an attitude like this is pathetic reductive pseudo rationalism that presumes an endless supply of everything to optimse through binary choices.

There are a lot of people getting very weird while useing AI, another big bunch of people who hate AI, and of course AI itself is weird, but I have no direct contact with AI while it finds my web sites and sends me work through some process that remains opaque to me. I have become quick to close any page that has strange gramar of phrasing, and no longer accept any claims or declarations that I cant verify indipendently. Having always been very very picky about any media I consume, I find it easy to avoid seeing anything that has been made useing AI. The whole upshot for me has been to spend more time doing real stuff and making money, which attracts more people to spend time with me.

or perhaps thats the first response?

in any case, as a hard core problem solver who is currently overwhelmed with problems I am bieng forced into no choice paragmatic responses. where I have lost any reserve capacity, deflect, move, deny a problem and get some rest, eat, shave the yak, before rejoining the fray with enough energy to perform is just part of the routine now. ie: triage or go under, which may be habit forming

corrosion of rebar is so significant that there are specs for the acidity of rock used for agregate in the concrete. Older rock that has been "washed" by billions of years of water permiating it , is then used, fetching a premium. Look into it and there are periability numbers for everything, which is how water has gained it's reputation as the universal solven, and granite, hard as it is, is also a bit of a sponge. What is harder to figure is the use of a lot of carbon in rebar, which makes it harder and with a higher tensile stength, but with greater rates of corrosion, somehow the calculation is to not use an ultra low carbon steel with some nickle and larger cross sections along with low acid chemistry in the concrete.

as a guitarer * with a realy cheap phone running butchered android and "side loaded" everything, and zero accounts for anything other than web space, the whole web looks like it's part of my file system as a default, some of it works, most does not , and some tiny fraction of all that is now local. people send me links and files all the time, again most does not work, and I have to specify, I can open old school pdf's, jpegs, and whatnot, but spotify!, ha!, nope, just tried,it just goes into a fit trying and failing to load who knows what, I could probably spend a day or two, three and build a hinky work around, but then it would fail, so I will stick to what works

* edit: I called myself a musician, but thats not quite true.

How is Sony not commiting piracy, ok not piracy, because a pirate at least makes an open frontal attack and says "har har har", and girls fantisise about bieng abducted by swashbucklers, but Sony is like some perv stealing peoples underware , or more accuratly a contract underware theef working for the real perv who knows where you live and nobody else like this stuff at all, zero fantasies, 100% icky perve

there is not much point in detecting LLM generated text, in that humans are useing info from LLM's, but obfusicting it's origin, with there own garble, along with purely human garble, and almost(but not quite) human LLM product meaning that the threshold for rejecting "data" must be lowered, which personaly means a very very low tollerance for wierdness, except where it can yield imediate possitive cash flow for the rest I do my own research and verification thank you very much

No AI needed for the design and build of custom metal either, and with a similar long human effort that I am privilaged to be aware and part of that I am quite certain cant be handled useing any computational averaging. Funnily enough, I have had and am right now involved in a project that the customer tried to have AI design, but that the most basic calculations were wrong. It's worse, as even humans working with highly developed design and estimating software, cant deliver accurate shop plans for real world projects that involve irregular surfaces or curves, and changing slopes that must be measured on site. AI will help you enjoy your cubes and parallograms, and cover them with realistic textures.

Personaly I find "ai" distastefull , but can care less about how people find my business, or get themselves into situations that require my services, but have seen nothing yet to indicate that "ai" is generaly advantageous, other than perhaps acting like a high tech comfort blanky.

what happens the day that justifiably enraged but unarmed students are attacked by the mindless thugs with guns, but massivly outnumber the thugs and fight back? is there a policy to retreat? or gun them.down. order at any cost! the question of who's order and in what context is off course, not up for discussion.

The title would be better if it mentioned Pakistan, cleptocracy, broken institutions, and war lords and how PV appears to be the pragmatic response. But my own experience, going off grid in Nova Scotia 15 years ago,is that at first people would ask how much it cost, and then often start a bitter diatribe against the power company, but now people are going ahead getting pannels and living as they see fit, the same institutions here now too busy and remote to enforce the regulations to (SAFTEY! SAFTEY!), disuade that. Solar PV is inreadably fault tollerant for basic DC current off grid battery charging, and people are jimmy jamming any and all old used batteries for storage. The sense of agency derived from having stuff power up from home built systems the first time is a powerfull motivator to keep going.

pull out the led, check its resistance, put a resistor/diode of the same resistance in it's place, and the continuity circuit will be happy. works on many many circuits, and if you are lazy or after another type of work.around, just put in a trim pot , which just might make a boost controller "think" it's on top of mount everist and provide a few more psi, or well several bar, whoooosh, wheeeeee

cheat responsibly

Pokeing the climate deniers in.the.eye.

There is a significant chance that "locked in" would be a best case scenario, as it suggests that we have a clue about what we have gotten our selves into. I have done my best to teach myself how to understand all of the factors effecting our planets climate, and have looked at the sattelite feeds since day 2, on the internet, and I can very definitly say that we are in completly uncharted territory that is well outside any of the worst case modeles or predictions. What that means for our weather is unknown.and debatable, but certainly warmer, and less comfortable for most. The real danger for us is connected with deep ocean warming, which while the physics is understood perfectly, there isn't enough data for a baseline and to monitor and predict changes.

it wont happen. fusion is a stellar phenominon that is powered , and contained by gravity, and sustained by a stellar mass. we have no plausible way to contain a fusion reaction over time periods that are monitisable, personaly, I do use fusion to power my house and shop, but keep the uncontained reactor 149600000 km from my power converters, but even at this distance electrical shielding and good grounds is the minimum to survive occasional power surges. And this last issue is not going away, there is NO plausible containment method that will survive the inevitable surges and variations that create ultra intense concentrations of energy that will exceed any "specification" The realy realy lucky part is that fusion will destroy the generator on loss of containment, and self extinguish, and all that gets vaporised, is money.

Jellyfish, bieng transparent and without a brain, dont have any secrets, and instantainious wound healing might be the compensation for that, or price, but by all accounts they have managed to get by more or less as they are, for 700 million years and so will likely be availible for further observation, for as long as we manage to stick around.

Unfortunately, the headline, like ALL of the rest for decades, is woefully conservative and fails to address the real situation, and more probmilmaticaly the failure modes of intense climate change. The current (daily) charts and maps as all in record teritory, with changes so extream as to suggest that there could be unmanageable conditions in our imediate future.

edit: The charts shown in the article, show the institutional insanity, by greying out Ireland, speaking of "europe", but showing only data for England.
