Promises are great for prototyping, but have significant overhead (http://thanpol.as/javascript/promises-a-performance-hits-you...) for some high performance APIs it may be advisable to use async.
Async also supports nodejs callback patterns which can reduce the need for wrappers (promisify)
How does this differentiate itself from existing comment test frameworks?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that they can maybe also replace TomTom with location tracking services from Verizon - probably yielding a ridiculously comprehensive tracking for North America (subject to ToC, I'm not a lawyer).
