- Compiled firmware is available on GitHub, packed together with a script for flashing it.

- You can use Meshtastic CLI.

- Docs are in git repository in .mdx format: https://github.com/meshtastic/meshtastic

All "sins" you mentioned are results of trying to be more convenient for users used to web browsers. Current state of web is pretty far from being decentralized, including web3.

So it was intended to be used this way. Didn't work very well. Connect-kit-loader trusts whatever the CDN throws, CDN trusts whatever NPM throws and NPM trusts whatever GitHub throws.

Regular smart cards also don't have screens, so it would mean totally blind signing. That's the problem which hardware wallets are solving, but sometimes the screen is just too small to show all the details of complex transactions.

You don't need to trust when you can verify. Some exchanges do audits and proof-of-reserves regularly, but majority of them prefer to cheat on their customers.

Fractional reserve is a scam, not crypto. Every institution which doesn't have money which they promised to keep safe, should collapse. Proof of reserves and audits are extremely easy in crypto and it doesn't require any regulations. Self custody of crypto is also pretty simple. Market is young, people greedy and as a result we got this domino of falling companies. Even after Mt. Gox collapse people didn't learn much, but I quietly hope it will come.

Borders are open and they can cross without any visa. Russia is spreading some fake news about closed borders. There is a list of reception points in Poland (some are walking distance from the border) in case they have problems with finding accommodation:
