I'm deprecating the extension due to lack of interest. It's been 10 days with as much promotion as I could do and there have been 5 downloads. I can't see taking the trouble to support something with no users.

Maybe framing it like that could catch HN's attention a bit more. :-)

I've noticed that anything AI is golden here. I've enjoyed doing this and I use it so I'm not really interested in promoting it more. And I've moved on to something a little less weird, and no, it is not an AI thing. :-)

In vscode click on the extension icon on the left that looks like building blocks. Then type in definition and this should be one of the first shown. Click, install, enjoy.

I have found it interesting that I cannot mix paints (subtractive color) to get black. It always seems to be brown. Is it possible to find a combination of paints that blocks all light? BTW, this is not considering the possible "combination" of just one color black.

Excuse my ignorance, but how can something be in Atom and VSCode? Are there two separate versions?

As a person who suffers from mania I would argue that everyone "suffers from it" does not apply to mental illness.

Do you have 3 or 4 days in a row where you can't sleep? Do you send emails to everyone at three in the morning that are totally crazy (such as only a maniac would write)? Do you speak at company meetings and have one of your employees write "shut up" on a piece of paper and hold it so that only you can see it?

I assume this refers to a PHD. The masters degree I got is also post-grad.

I'm not sure if anyone else covered it but you have to have a certain amount of money to get a PHD. I was approved to enter a doctorate program at Stanford. I couldn't afford it so I went to HP to earn some money. After the five-year approval expired I was disappointed that I could never afford it. (We're talking astronomical numbers here).

This will probably cause users to avoid side-loading which is a shame. It will be harder for developers to avoid the store-tax.

This make me think of watching "She's Gotta Have It" by Spike Lee. When watching the black and white movie I was blown away by the image depth. It a bright sunlit scene you could see shadows and details in the shade under a tree.

For some reason black and white film always had more dynamic range than color. I don't know why.

VSCode IS running inside a browser.

I used to be a major contributor and follower of Atom. People commonly asked why Atom couldn't run in the browser. The answer was simple, node and a browser are totally different things. Imagine a browser opening files, starting processes, running arbitrary C-code, etc.

No, VSCode does not normally run in a browser.

If you want to license your software under a proprietary license, just license it under a proprietary license.

It's not that simple. I'm about to come out with a 3d-printed product that will sell in a similar market to 3d printers. My product is begging to be open-source hardware since anyone with a 3d-printer can create a large part of it and I'd be ecstatic (and richer) if the product developed a community of followers.

However, MakerBot did this and it was a mistake. Clones quickly came out of china at half the price. MakerBot ended the open-source and developed newer products. My outfit is not big enough to do something like this.

So I have considered using a commons-based license. Makers can play with my product without others undercutting my prices.

I've never heard of an open-source lawyer. I understand totally how valuable it is to litigate open-source issues, but I'm curious as to who pays for such services? Being able to pay lawyers seems unlikely for a free product.

I wonder if Google pays attention to outside research like this, or considers itself ahead of the outside world.

That gets back to my original point. The spectrum analyzer went into the gigahertz range. I don't think it was delta sigma. It was some multiple sample thing that only worked in the frequency domain.
