I've thought the same thing since I encountered this trick a few years back. My guess is that most email providers don't allow the use of a "+" in the address and as a result its viewed as a fringe case and not accounted for.

Totally agree, almost every one of the Uber's I hop in and strike up a conversation with the driver they end up being a struggling actor/comedian/musician. Seems as if it is a welcome alternative to getting a job as a server at a restaurant.

While I'm not overly impressed with the post I have to agree with the sentiment of it as Uber/Lyft has made living in LA without a car much easier. Coming from another major city my wife and I were dreading the idea of having to buy a second vehicle for me just to live daily. Thanks to rise of ride sharing services we haven't had to and that makes living here, not just nightlife, a lot easier given the lack of useful public transportation.

Really interesting to see them put their theory into practice along with real numbers. I'm currently reading the book and am finding it quite interesting. I'd recommend picking it up, pretty quick read and very helpful to put distribution in terms of a framework.

Agreed. Being from Chicago I think that its very natural for all the points listed above. The density of the city with the void of competition in the space (only Peapod comes to mind) make Chicago a great market to expand too. Chicago usually doesn't come to mind first as an early adopter market but given the rapid adoption of Uber (like other cities) I think the market is proving it is interested in similar services.

Anyone have any insight into LinkedIn's strategy with this acquisition? Have seen them nab a few other companies in the space. Talent grabs? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Don't see why they should/would disclose this to users. Does not affect the end users experience unless they are in fact adding their own affiliate links. I find the point the author made about bloggers disclosing the use of affiliate links a stretch. I can see his point but pinterest is not a blog, they're a business and want to/should produce revenue.

Very clean product. Love the shortcuts, and key at the bottom. Looks like a great tool for development and business teams. Took a look through the site and didn't see any future integrations (i.e. dropbox, github issues etc.). Does anyone know if there are integrations in the pipeline?

Interesting amount of negative feelings towards AirBnB, and as a disclaimer I am a big proponent of "Do, and ask for forgiveness". This is what startups are all about, using available resources to their advantage and getting out their and hustling (even if it involves bending the rules a bit). Obviously rental owners (their target) were not to upset about being told of another resource to list their site on otherwise they would not have continued this approach. I can see where some of you are coming from in feeling violated/disturbed by this but given that a.) it appears to have worked b.) they informed users of something they wanted c.) no one complained (until now). I this that it was a very effective/creative way to solve their supply problem and it obviously worked.

I'd be interested to see if we'll see similar models emerge from other manufacturers biz in the near future. Is an interesting concept and with a feature set and price point that will appeal to the masses.

Couldn't agree more. While Silicon Valley still has the upper hand on available talent, capital etc. there is steep competition for all of it.
