It was never about hard work its about who owns the means of production. And it turns out the best way to amass huge amounts of wealth is creating something so you have ownership and working on growing it for decades.

Jeff had similar compensation as jassy when he was ceo. It’s just that he is also the owner.

I don't mean search in the reductionist way but rather that its much better at translating, finding and mapping concepts if everything is provided vs creating from scratch. If it could truly think it would be able to bootstrap creations from basic principles like we do, but it really can't. Doesn't mean its not a great powerful tool.

That only applies for industries that are growing. And most of the “gambling” happens in options markets which are perfectly zero sum before fees.

It's tricky because you almost never truly work on sophisticated systems as a whole. You usually interact with a small part of them that tends to be meaningless, (e.g. writing YAML files for complex k8s).

The exception to this would be if you are the one designing the system, but then most sophisticated systems tend to grow from necessity rather than central planning.

That's my experience at least.

The rise and fall of the third reich. Nazi Germany history tends to be looked from a far and trivialized, with phrases like "oh he attacked russia in the winter, what a dumbass", "it was another totalitarian government that got out of hand".

This book gave me a proper example and details on how horrible things begin, continue and end.

Sure, but I doubt your average tradesman starting a business is targeting billion dollar markets.

Scaling software to the same level of revenue as a trade business is as easy if not easier. For one you don’t need that many employees
