There seems to be a huge difference between spin-down while NAS is up vs shutting the whole NAS down and restart. When I start my NAS, it takes a bunch of time to be back up: it seems to do a lot of checking on/ syncing off the drives and puts a fair amount of load on them (same is true for CPU as well, just look at your CPU load right after startup).
OTOH, when the NAS spins up a single disk again, I haven't notice any additional load. Presumably, the read operation just waits until the disk is ready.
If you are happy to live with B&W printing for your untraceable printing needs, maybe you can fill the yellow cartridge with clear ink (not sure if water is OK).
But then, how do B&W laser printer allow for tracing ?

I'd probably prefer doing this at lower layers like pf, since I know how to reload those configs via cron, and since I want to avoid unwanted or malicious packets to even make it to the syslog code.

Did anyone here here set up a good rsyslogd configuration where the receiving syslog collector limits incoming logs to only known ddns machines ?
I think I may be able to stitch something together with periodically reconfigured packet filters, but I'd appreciate an existing solution.

I agree; I'm thinking that's it's useful to be able to get frequent snapshots of the whole moon at this resolution (if you are interested in time lapse to track volcanic activity for instance). The satellite-based stitched photo probably took a long time to collect.
Also, without knowing details, I suspect you can improve the LBT images as the system matures, but as you say, probably not at the resolution the satellite provides.

Some of the advances of AI enhancing and outfills are pretty scary in that respect. Like the Xerox compression bug in scanners, but much more pervasive, and, since it's goverments doing it, more or less inscrutable.
Great question. I'd be also interested in good auditor firms. That's really what SOC is - sign off by auditors on criteria. SOC-1 is for an initial snapshot, SOC-2 for a 1 year interval or so, proving the controls work.

Well, everything is math, at some level. Supreme Court decisions might be. There are software packages used to day, using some "AI", to help judges determine the adequate level of punishments looking at circumstantial factors determining recividism rates et cetera [1] [2].
I believe that in the not too distant future there will be pressure to use these "magic" AIs to be applied everywhere, and this pressure will probably not look very hard at whether the AI is good at math or not. Just look at all the pseudoscience in the criminal system [3]. I believe this poses a real problem, so keeping hareping on this is probably the right response.
