I left my Citroen to my mom, and my stepfather has calculated that a light bulb costs 3€, having the light bulb mounted by the mechanic costs 5€ ( including the bulb ), so to save up 2€ he decided ( with good cause ) that he will never replace the bulb himself cause it's extremely infuriating.

I did manage to replace those bulbs myself, and it's ridiculous, it has some sort of spring to hold it in place that is extremely hard to open with your fingers, and even harder to close. And on top of that you can't even see it, you have to take first pictures with your phone, understand how it works and then go entirely by tactic feedback

I have a 2009 Citroen and the battery is secured with a bolt that is under the battery compartment and to access it you need to go under the car with a very long wrench, who engineered it is a psycho

Also if all the versions are affected this malware is in stylus since 2010. Honestly, it sounds improbable to me that a malware exists unnoticed in open source software for 15 years. However, even if improbable it's better to play safe and just override the installation of stylus ( especially if you are not using it ) with an empty package until more information is released

The current AI generation has an additional pain point compared to the bad coworker, it's unable to learn, you can give it a rule file but it doesn't always respect it properly and it doesn't update it itself. TLDR: the bad colleague will stop making the same mistake in the PRs the AI no

Hopefully this will change in future generations of AI

I have noticed that putting bananas in the fridge has a weird effect, the peel turns black like if it's outside, but the inside of the banana stays yellow and hard. It is very weird to peel a full black banana and find the inside normal without any browning

You can visualize it easily if you think about your own vision.

If you put an hand in from of your face ( without covering your eyes ) you will be able to see behind it even if both eyes see only a part of what is behind your hand.

Now regarding the video imagine that each pixel is an eye, and they are spreaded evenly along a circle.

There are a lot of differences between this example and what he actually did, but it should be very easy to visualize ( main difference I can think of is how much amplification he needed to do so each eye is almost blind )

This is my second live coding, it is something I started doing two days ago as a way to show my skills and create a portfolio.

I didn't share the first one because was honestly too terrible, but I think this one didn't go as bad as the first one, there's for sure a lot of room for improvement and I will be happy to hear feedback from this community, both positive and negative

I must disagree with your comment, I don't think re-creating React ( without looking at the source code ) makes you the React guy, the skills to be a good React developer, and the skills to be a developer that can create a framework like React I believe are not the same.

I think by creating a React-like framework what I will showcase is a deep understanding of the inner workings of the browser ( for optimization), the inner workings of React, and a good knowledge of languages and tools used to create this framework.

It is to showcase, I see it as a long-term project, I don't expect I make a video today and get hired tomorrow, my expectations are lower, more "I make a video a week, in a year I have enough to showcase ( and maybe a following )"

Yes I do agree that managers and target audience don't overlap, but also I don't think it's people learning React, but more people curious about inner workings of React

I understand your point of view about polishing, and from the other comments too it is a common theme.

I believe polishing will be needed, but that doesn't exclude the creation of also unpolished worked.

From all the feedback gathered I will:

  1. Live stream the unpolished work, this will help creating a sense of community and people would be able to be part of the short feedback loop
  2. Collect the most interesting parts from point 1 and create polished videos
  3. Write articles for whom prefers this media

Regarding the audience I'm not thinking of mid-senior developers that like to watch something on the second screen while working

Thanks for the input, I like your proposed approach of "don't overthink it and just start making content", that is exactly what I will do.

I agree that written form is better, but it doesn't have any time constraints, this is why I was thinking more of live coding, or why not both? In the end, I will need to do the coding part in both cases, so why not stream it?

My problem with building an app is that I honestly don't know what app to build, and recreating React sounds fun to me

I am mostly a Frontend engineer, and I have 9+ years of experience in the field; during my career, I moved from PHP+MySQL+JS to Node.JS+React/Angular/Backbone to mostly React and some Node.js. In almost every company I worked for, I had to learn some new language or toolset; I consider myself a good learner. I had a brief experience as a Lead Engineer.

I'm looking for a front-end-focused role, but I'm open to working on full-stack again.

Suwałki Gap 3 years ago

Yesterday Lulashenko was in St. Petersburg and said something along the lines of "the Wagner mercenaries want to go for an escursion to Warsaw, I'm trying to stop them". Monday there was a news that Wagner will have joint exercises with Belarus military on the border with Poland A week ago Putin warned Poland to not attack Belarus Nearly a month ago after Wagner was exiliated to Belarus, polish Deputy PM said they will be strengthening the border security with Belarus ( because of Wagner )

In short the tension between Poland and Belarus+Russia is increasing, and if Russia really wants to invade Poland, the Suwalki gap is the most obvious place

Only problem of being able to save at any time is that it breaks the intended experience. For example in FF8 during the final arc the save point ( along with other features, like be able to use magic ) is taken away from you and you need to kill some strong bosses to get it back, because each boss after being defeated let's you restore a functionality of your choice, restoring the save point becomes part of your strategy

I translated "cotoletta" into "Schnitzel" to give an immediate idea of the dish to the reader ( because Schnitzel is more famous ), but in Italian cotoletta can be both with chicken or pork or beef, the recipe is the same with every meat ( beat the meat, bread it, shallow fry it )
