I actually installed Mystic BBS (http://www.mysticbbs.com/) just this week and had a telnet/ssh board up in minutes. Thought it’d be fun to work on a system like this in a modern language, but figured it’d likely be a colossal waste of time.

Just an FYI that the SRE role (https://jobs.lever.co/particle/b27e9eae-50de-49fc-8c85-1b932...) says ANYWHERE but in the description itself it says: "Located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or Minneapolis".

Sounds great, but the job description has no mention of remote?

https://www.wfh.io does not allow job postings from anyone who masks the identity of the actual employer. This was something we set out to refuse from inception.

Hi there! Those job posts are a tad misleading -- they state Remote, but then in the description it says "We are looking for talented people to come join us in the heart of the Flatiron District in New York City ..."

Agreed that it's not nearly as easy finding a remote sys admin job as it is software development. On https://www.wfh.io, we currently have 20 active sys admin jobs versus 197 software development. I'm actually seeing this increase slightly though, so hopefully as more businesses adopt full time remotes we'll see this number increase. Our sys admin jobs FYI:

There are tons of remote rails jobs on https://www.wfh.io -- in actual fact, it seems like most jobs we get ARE rails-related.

We post sys admin / "DevOps" roles on https://www.wfh.io -- but to be honest, the # of these we get (or see online) pale in comparison to development roles.

Congrats on the launch! It's getting to be a pretty crowded space, but hopefully you can bring something new to the table!

i look at those boards regularly, some jobs are US-only but not all. on https://www.wfh.io, since march we've had 19% of jobs posted that are open to those in a particular country only.

i think it'd be helpful. i know commuting across london is a pain, so people may only be interested in a radius rather than specific location.

really? there are lots of job boards for remote jobs -- https://www.wfh.io, https://weworkremotely.com/, http://careers.stackoverflow.com/, https://jobs.github.com/, etc.

Have a look and see if there are any Regus office buildings in your town/city. They have an inexpensive membership card that lets you make use of their business lounges. The Regus building I tried wasn't amazing but I would imagine they're all different so may be worth looking at?

if there are such tight stipulations on that thread then ops should be responsible for posting and moderating it.

I'm working on WFH.io (https://www.wfh.io), which provides job listings for remote tech-based employment. The site is still pretty basic in functionality, but is slowly picking up traction.

Appreciate you posting this -- it really lifted our spirits after this mild battering. :)

I personally don't see how my posts are any less applicable than those posted by companies who submit the exact same thing month after month after month. If my posts were irrelevant (or spam) no one would click on them and I'd stop wasting time here. :)

Anyway, the fact that people do click indicates interest, however since all comments here are negative I'll refrain from making any further posts to these threads. I don't want to tarnish the site in the name of getting some additional clicks.

And what exactly is http://hirerefugees.org ? Whilst I completely commend your involvement w/ that site, it does feel like a bit of a double standard here.
