The OpsCenter codebase currently consists of JavaScript, Clojure, and Python. OpsCenter is used to manage big data systems like Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, and Solr. Familiarity with these or similar platforms will be helpful in this position.

Strong JavaScript experience, particularly building complex single page web applications with modern frameworks is a requirement. Experience with Dojo, esnext, ES6 would be good. Experience with charting libraries such as D3 or similar would be useful. You should be comfortable in either Clojure or Python. And of course, experience with Cassandra would be a great thing to see.

I got second place here for http://www.proggitftw.com. What a great contest.

I wrote a few Python scripts to scrape Proggit every few minutes, looking for new comments. Sending them to IndexTank was simple--just one call. On the Rails app for the searching, same thing--just one call and you can get the results from IndexTank.

I'm going to spend more time on it and make it a bit more usable. HelpShelf's highlighting is cool so I'll do that, and I think auto complete is a no brainer.

I've actually had a note (in Evernote) for a while now to "find replacement for Evernote or write my own."

Every time they release a new version I see item after item that's of no interest to me. I really just want a simple place to store to-do lists, notes, etc. and have it available on every machine and phone I use.

They do a lot more than that now, but yet you still can't edit a to-do list with checkboxes on the iPhone!

Howdy, so this is ipTrust, my company's first commercial-side application. We're in Beta now but a premium version is coming out in January. Our main product is our API, which lets you build applications against our large and unique dataset of botnets seen in the wild.

The correct answer of course is "both". There are many similarities between the languages and the frameworks, and there are good job opportunities for each.

Go do a side project with one of them and release it. Then go do another side project with the other and release that. Then go get a job or contract with one or the other. You'll be able to say you've used each, you'll be able to give pros and cons to each, etc.

I've switched to it for most of my ad hoc searching. Occasionally I use Google still for some things.
