@AtlasLion you are right real world performance matters. We test extensively with actual workloads, and the speed up holds there too. For example: lots of real world BI queries are repeated over smallish data sets of 10 to 50 GB. We test that size factor and pattern all the time.

Here's a little known fact - the Jet storage engine behind Access is alive and well. It's used by Active Directory and many other products at Microsoft. At my previous company, we built a distributed key-value store on top of it (much like using sqlite in a distributed manner).

This literally happened to me. Unfortunately with both FB and Alexa. It's concerning to say the least

I've been a Fi customer for two years. Sometimes it 'just works' when you travel internationally, which is magical. Most times however it just ok. It was dismal in Pakistan last year. In Netherlands it's barely ok. I'm ditching it in a few days since the Dutch have better, cheaper carriers.

Karthik, I'm no Spark expert but almost all advice I read is to avoid UDFs if at all possible. Examples below:
