FYI You should notice the map updates as soon as you start typing just like Google Instant Search.
Thanks for your time. Icons gonna be the next thing on my schedule.
First of all thanks for taking time to check it. On Google Map, yes you type "restaurants in San Francisco" and it will give you all the restaurants on the area. On my web app, you only need to type the location "San Francisco" and it will give you all the nearest restaurants on the area once you click the radiobutton for restaurants under "Show Nearest" options. Ok now here's the difference, say you want to search in another location like in "Manila,Philippines", in Google Maps (assuming you don't wanna drag or scroll the map to find "Manila, Philippines") so you need to retype again "Restaurants In Manila" but on my web app the moment you start typing it will retrieve immediately all the nearest restaurants on the suggested location until you finish typing the whole world "Manila". Then if you change your mind again and want to check out nearest restaurants in "London" it will retrieve all the nearest restaurants on the suggested location until you reach London. Hence you don't need to retype again and again "Restaurants in #somewhere#".Anyway, the single purpose of my app is to find the nearest interesting point for the user assuming he/she knows the location but in Google Maps I think it's more of a general purpose since you can use it in whatever way you want like for browsing the world, driving directions etc.
I hope you tried it but it's a web app where you can quickly browse the location on the map with instant suggestions. Once you press enter ,it'll give you the current weather on that location. Then if you choose to know the nearest churches, clinics, hospitals etc. it also provide you. Keep browsing or moving the map and it will update the nearest points you choose. I think its a great way to quickly find out the nearest restaurants, bars etc on a certain area.
Pretty cool site....
Like a week ago, I submitted this weekend project of mine for critique. So I submitted it again to know if I did an improvement or made it worse. Sorry if I ask again but I don't know any site that is as reliable as HN to critique a web app. If you do, please direct me to it too.
I have no place to go for such a good place to critique my website so I made some changes. I work alone so I have nobody to ask if I'm heading on a right path for this so please tell me what do you think, did I make it worst or ok? Please don't get mad if I posted this again, I just have nobody to ask.
http://jamafriend.com/LargeMap.aspx - a project I built during my free time and I'm still working on it.
I know I submitted this before but I haven't had any reactions or feedback so I'll try this again. This is a personal project of mine that I did during my free time. I'm kind of not sure of the design/ui so I would like some expert insight from you guys. Can this be a helpful tool to you? Thanks in advance for your time.
Just use JanRain basic account, it's free. The only thing is you're limited to 6 providers. Check out my blog about this free implementation....... http://jamafriend.com/blogengine.web/post/Adding-OpenId-Logi...
I guess you might be using IE, right? A bug in my Ajax code for IE browser, trying to correct it. Right now it's optimize for chrome, safari and ff.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Thanks for your time. I'll try your suggestions.
Thanks a lot. I do the front-end and back-end of the site so I don't really have a designer. Any recommendations for an affordable designer for consultation?
Browsing upward is now fixed.
Those stories must have been submitted "a days ago" ooops must be "a day ago" or "one day ago". Yes I need to remove the focus on the comment button when the page loads - that makes you browse upward to read the story. Thanks for your time.
I'll clean it up. Thanks for your feedback.
It's a personal project of mine that I do during my freetime. I did everything by myself so I guess it's a project.
Thanks for the feedback.
Jamafriend is a social networking application that displays your location and your friends' location on the Google map with links to current weather, headline news and current events as long as valid locations were provided. To protect people's privacy, Jamafriend doesn't automatically geolocate your location. It's up to you if you want to provide your location and manually enter it on our system. Another thing is you can choose a design for your photo album and can change it anytime.
I'm working on my social networking site where users can share music playlist, photos, exchange messages, real- time chat ala Facebook, and schedule their daily task. http://www.jamafriend.com
Can you please elaborate more?
Sorry, I'm not interested in moving. All I need is to gain experience and more knowledge in web development and extra income would be great. Anyways thank you. Also I send you the links to my projects.
