Oh, so they are going the Chef-route?! :(

I do hope a community fork works out - I wouldn't even know where to migrate to for managing full VMs in such a nice way(puppetserver/puppetdb/bolt)...

I don't want to spread negative vibes, but this feels like a phishing test website.

The only real details about the app/product it that it cost 3$ for 250 in-game tokens. It's not even clear how long they last.

I guess it is on purpose, so people just click the app-store button... but the lack of details is astonishing.

The landing page claims "all your data remains locally on your phone, without compromise." but the about pages mentions OpenAI... so it's a wrapper for a custom GPT that gets fed anonymized chats?

Anyway, for fellow windows and android users you get Screenshots here: https://www.fnd.io/#/us/iphone-app/6474674651-hiccup-ai-by-o...

Looks like there is something wrong with your domain :(

- docsplus.co gets redirected to www.docsplus.co

- this shows a godaddy parking site

- plus the cert is only valid for docsplus.co

IPv6 Excuse Bingo 2 years ago

Whats the point of that without having arguments against each excuse or offering solutions?

or is this just and "you're an idiot for thinking that" sign?

This also happens with work-related messengers and calls.

After transitioning to remote work during lockdown, chat&calls suddenly become mandatory to look at ASAP. Now I sometimes get multiple urgend messages while beeing on a surprising call. In the office, these people would see that I'm busy and wait. Now I have to line them up and prioritize them myself..

It took me a while to figure out that a few hours of this process could ruin a full day of productivity + requires much more mental work to regenerate after.

I do have ADHD though - so this is one of my biggest issues even under normal circumstances.

No need for using the term "fake news". Noone posted any news, nor are they fake.

It's not about possible access of classified information, but the now unknown state of the devices and systems.

Physical barriers, like a guarded entry, produce a zone of trust. People are searched for weapons on entries to somewhat guarantee that no weapons are inside. Once the entry is un-guarded, the trust level is 0% and needs to rebuild.

I've seen "just WIN+L" on Twitter a lot...

Relying on humans locking their PC in event of a terrorist attack isn't a IT-Security concept.

Security consists of a threat model and many layers of security measures. Many many outer layers have failed here. I wouldn't blame an individual nor a department here. It's one of those events that probably wasn't in the scope. Additionally, roles/security clearance levels etc. still work regardless of the account beeing open to anyone.

Things like Smartcards, Yubikeys, auto-lockscreen could have failed the same way. Maybe a GPO failed, or a windows update broke the auto-lock.... that's why all these many layers exist.

I totally understand why. It just felt weird the first time I came across a beautiful Linux Mint app, that couldn't be ported to windows..

.. the cool thing is, that it is possible with WSL and it probably will be almost seamless in the future - without additional work for the devs.

I specifically want to use Planner because of the local mode. Afaik ther are no nice local-only todo apps for windows with sub-task support.

It's so sad to see cool Linux tools without a Windows version:(

I get why; I'm just sad - especially because some Linux users are annoyed by "Windows only" tools and then they use linux only features, that never can't be ported to other operating systems as well(not because lack of people, but incompatibility).

Planner is one of those amazing niche tools that doesn't exist for Windows. It looks amazing - congrats!

- Lifting weights is indeed worth the hype, and its benefits are more diffuse than just “being able to lift heavy things.”

This was unexpected, but true. I started a few month ago, because I moved and noticed that carrying the goceries in the 4th floor interrupted my whole day...

Every movement includes moving weight. It basically makes the whole life easier

Bought a Logitech Brio 4k Streaming before Covid, because I wanted to try out YouTube and using my DSLR was a pain.

Its 200€(pre lockdown) and is just a webcam on steroids.

Now I'm glad I didn't sold it. Almost anyone comments on the image quality - especially when I turned on my 4000lm daylight Phillip's Tornado

Mailgun send a warning mail about increased bounces from our account. Sure, they know what's going on... but we send 4-5 digit mails per hour - it's a lot of bounces

That means I can't just resend the the emails blindly, because I'm too scared to trigger some sort of automatic suspension...

(I don't do this regularly, so I'm not familiar with all features... additional mail verification could help probably ....)

I highly recommend Hetzners Server auctions for people who would use "old enterprise hardware" anyways: https://www.hetzner.com/sb

You won't get latest hardware, but you don't need to care about noise and get a real public IP in return. After experimenting with enterprise hardware in a 1room apartment, I found that to be a nice alternative.

I recently got a 4C Xeon/64GB Memory/2x500G SSD for 35€/month... it's also a nice alternative to Cloud, since canceling period is only 30days.

But it also felt bland, boring. I didn't feel anything

I don't have experience with atomoxetine, but other meds, and this sounds a like an symptom of over dosage. The typical "ritalin robot" is usually causes by taking to much.

Maybe you can check out other meds. I experienced the "blend robot" situation a few times with Medikinet and learned that Methylphenidate is very sensitive to food intake and PH in the stomach, which can make the effect less predictable. I switched to Lisdexamfetamin - it's less dependent on food and works better for me.

If we're talking about internal servers, isn't an existing ldap/AD infrastructure so uncommon? There would be almost no additional work to implement this(depending on the size..)

The discussed sining flow probably works better with cloud infrastructure. Afaik it's one of the ways hashicorps vault can be used for SSH.

and when things go wrong.

Even when 3rd party, like shipping, messes up.

Many stores treat the package someone else's problem as soon as it's out of their shop. Amazon seems to be the only one who cares about the tracking number too(this may vary country..).

In the short term, this made me less efficient, because I’d spend less time programming and more time staring vacantly at the ceiling.

As a manager, it became impossible to “only work on one thing:” there were too many small tasks and too many projects going on in parallel.

As someone with ADHD, thank you for that reminder.

It is an obvious issue that is hard to be aware of.

As it seems, blind, to the customers feedback.

I wonder how they gather feedback internally. Because either they don't even test some of their services by 50 employees, or ignore any feedback of coworkers too.

Even though the old app felt like it was build and tested by a team of 1, it feels like not even the single person either used it daily, or want allows to make a change after it was published.

It should take a elaborate company vision to build a service for people, who actually want to use the service

This was crossposted to the todoist subreddit and and I already said this there:

The overhead that these systems need is my worst nightmare.

I tried obsidian, because I saw how people use notion, roam and obsidian ro manage tasks and as knowledge base... but I just can't imagine me doing this.

I programmed a Bot for todoist and at one point I developed a github > Todoist sync, to manage my work on the Bot... at on point it almost was comical how many additional tasks I ended up with, just to make it happen.

I tried obsidian and quickly tried to use Typoda for markdown, because even writing markdown comes with an overhead... additionally I always need to install 3rd party apps to even access my knowledge..

I'm still looking for the perfect system, but always to back to Todoist for tasks and a simple static file generator for my knowledge base(docsify).. I can edit and access it from everywhere and dont have much overhead.

What I also dont get is the lack of API of theses systems. Afaik notion still don't have one, and even roam doesn't.

For journaling and brainstorming, I build a Todoist function that creates and links a Dropbox Paper directly to the task in Todoist... this way I already have a task and it's out of sight when I'm done... and it only requires a browser.

I envy everyone who can use these apps though. It does seem to be a nice way of offload stuff of the brain.

Yes, it's weird that it can't be turned off, but the snap documentation is very clear about the auto update.

Snap versions also can be reverted.... it is annoying, but the article is a bit overdramatic, since it's not a secret..

RocketChat has this issue to. They work around that by delaying the snap release for weeks. And they also provide different update channels.
