Curious question here: If you take the screenshot you get from WOW and open it up with photoshop/gimp/paint and save it now as PNG or different format, would it be possible to degrade the quality of the dots rendering it useless to be tracked?

Thanks! I was going to ask for a link to how you know this but it makes total sense. I was already thinking if that was the case or if something else was being done but going back to the servers is the most logical explanation. What personal computer isnt hooked up to the internet these days. The game must have come from somewhere, most likely the internet and not someone’s floppy disk/zip drive/usb stick.

The one beautiful thing that cardpool can do that cash cant do is get you a discount without having to bargain. All you need is a little bit of foresight.

When I was going to buy my Droid X, I knew BestBuy was going to be selling it so I went on cardpool and bought two 100$ cards and got 6% off of 200 from the phone. Its a great service if you know your going to spend the money and want to reward yourself for planning ahead.

Yes they are actually spinning. If a Wild shows up on the reel, the LCD screen pops a "Wild" animation over it.

If you go to a casion, look out for WMS slot machines, specifically this one (Goldfish (the new one, not the old machine)) I played this in Atlantic City at the Trump Taj Mahal downstairs next to the noodle bar and they use a transparent LCD over their spinning reels. Pretty cool stuff.

I have found that if I read to much about the language I would greek out and spend more time thinking of what if and not produce.

So what I’m getting out of this is that if your passionate about your company and its doing well, think twice before you decide to get bought out because its possible that life might not be better/greener for your company once your assimilated.

Reminds me of Brew Masters when the owner of Dogfish Head, Sam Calagione, mentioned that he had an offer to sell off his company for a nice amount but in the end he would still obsess about the fate of his company, and the name he built up for it, that it wasnt worth selling.

To stomach this startup mentality this quote drives home to me the most. I just came to the realization that there is a new product out that does what I want to do but not exactly. I put myself in a small panic/"is is worth it" kind of mentality but knowing that if something like this stops me from trying to accomplish my dream, then I dont have what it takes to start a startup. I won't be able to live with myself if I stop now and always have "what if's" floating around in my head. After reading this excerpt im fired up, im not going to let this speed bump stand in my way.

If you have nothing to hide then why encrypt what your doing, but honestly anything you do can be possibly misconstrued in some way and you never know what can come bite you in the butt later on.

Either way, I rather have the FBI have to get a subpoena in order to get the non encrypted data sitting on a hard drive on the other end then to easily be able to listen in on what im doing just becaue they "suspect" that something might be going on.

Awesome! I'm a coder and my design skills are close to none. I was having a hard time visualizing what I want my future site to look like and I really like how the site shows you a blank theoretical layout with black boxes, and then a real life example of the final result. This will definetly be very helpful.

As zrgui said (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2242098) that these sites add " low-quality content apps " into the market but something simple like this does serve its purpose, in my opinion, for the younger, growing up, geek generation. Looking back at how I got interested in programming, something like this probably would have sparked my interest in mobile development by jump starting my baby steps in creating "my own app", ragardless of how simple the app might be.

Apple definetly holds a dominant hold on the 10" tablet market and the Samsung Tab took a stab at the market with their 7" and did ok. I feel Motorola is taking a brave stance here by trying to tackle the 10" market. As another comment in here points out, "wifi-only Xoom to be priced at $600" so there is competition when it comes to the "Nobody Can Match the iPad’s Price". Architecturally wise they are vertically integreated with all their in house hardware and software but I dont think anyone can argue that their manufacturing practices dont help that statement.

I feel a lot of other companies are riding the tablet wave. Why would motorola underprice the Xoom when possibly they could make a killing on selling the next "iPad" killer.

If its true that Apple is sitting on a pretty price margin on the iPad, then the Xoom, I feel, wouldent be to far off. If they had to they could lower the price to gain momentum but so far this is Motorolas first good tablet release and I dont think they will want to miss an opportunity to make a pretty penny on this.

Its a nice to have on a device, but a 90 degree rotate for the icon wont make me go "ooooh, that was the home button, not the back button". I think I could understand that the button on the left will always be home, even when I flip my phone to landscape mode.

Now one thing that would have been cooler would be to allow users to remap the keys. So many android phones are fragmented in their button placement. On my Droid X I know the menu button is on the far left. I dont even look, I know its there so I click without looking. If I owned this phone I can see myself accidentally always going to home if I thought I was hitting the menu button within an app.

In that case the word better is relative in both the presenters point of view and 37signals.

How true is that? Why MUST it be (only) one of those two?

I was reading one of 37 signals books' "Rework" and they said their model was not to make something new or better, but to simplify. They admit there are better applications out there, jam packed with more features but they found that to be to cumbersom.

If someone from YCombinator watched these videos first before starting up their idea(s), would they be where they are right now? How informative would someone suggest these videos are that has some experience in the Startup field?
