I mean, when you spin your own instance, because frankly, that's what the best option if you're a content creator, you can put whatever ads and monetization strategies you want. So basically the full income that gets generated gets to you, instead of splitting it with some third party that invests minimal effort. Yes, you'll have to pay someone to maintain and upkeep the server, but assumedly the people that can make the change will take that cost into account.

Perhaps you should talk to customer support and try to get your money back. Even if it won't work, there's no faster way to reach the company to make a stand than to have an explicit paper trail to customers that are leaving them because of this.

A Windows binary is just more portable, more stable long term, and a better experience.

I must preface this by saying that I'm not a game dev, but the Steam Runtime SDK has been offering stable versioned targets for linux for close to a decade now. Porting to one of them shouldn't be more difficult than porting to any other console specific SDK.

Sadly I don't see that happening. Game devs have gotten used to having their cake and eating it too by developing for Windows and using Proton as a crutch to get the the Steam OS certification too. flibitijibibo was right: linux porters have probably gone out of business.

I solved this by building Web Components out of them. Basically the HTML needs just a custom template tag, which includes a script with the JSON-LD payload. In central Europe I have at least one shop that sells loose leaf tea in walking distance, and multiple ones in ordering range but still local(ish). Prices per 100 grams are about twice as gourmet coffee, but you use less quantity so it lasts longer. So check your neighbourhood internet. :)

The public part of the identity (which in our example it was enrolled at bank account opening) can be used by the server that checks the QR code to see if it actually belongs to the correct account owner.

Because there are many interesting uses for having a personal electronic token that's also recognized by your own government. My own interest is in using it as a base for establishing an identity for electronic ballots.

I'm pretty sure electronic IDs are a good starting point for exactly this. Hopefully they get wider use inside the EU.

What I was trying to tell you with my original reply to you is that Jolla chose a different point on the free/pramatic curve of available SoCs. They selected a phone that's more likely to be used by average people rather than a fully open one. (You can still see in this very thread, complains about the high price for what it offers, showing they haven't fully succeeded, at that.)

Pointing out that they still rely on Android drivers for booting the thing is a little tone-deaf from my perspective when they're basically choosing a different path towards a similar goal to Purism and other alternative mobile vendors: higher availability of non Google, non Apple mobile devices. Perfect is the enemy of good and all that. And like I explained the reason for their choice is not nefarious but a pragmatic one.

That wasn't modern when they released it in 2020. Jolla chose a little more pragmatism for their hardware in the hope that they actually sell phones to other people than 100% open-source purists. I find it funny when dudes like you go all "well awkshwally" on them...
