I use Resolume for fun on a Mac, and I couldn't find any decent alternative. I also use HeavyM, which is pretty good, also on a Mac and cheaper, but while it does support VJ use case, it's more designed around projection mapping.

Piece of advice: if you want to buy Resolume (and I do recommend it, it's fantastic): the only discount they do all year is on Black Friday, 50% off. So that is THE day to buy a license. And if you happen to be a student or teacher of a related field (or know anyone who is), you can get an additional 50% on that, and buy it for 25% of the total price.

In the Keynote, when they talk about the "use it on an airplane" use case, they specifically said you'll need to Airpods (Pro) for noice cancellation. One has to assume any bluetooth set would work as well

or "life scale" where you can leave the room entirely to check on the screens you left in the kitchen before coming back to sit down in front of the ones in your office?

according to the videos they show, people move around a lot in a room with these things on, grab things (e.g. their phone, cup of coffee). and makes sense, if you see basically what you have in front of you, then there's no "boundaries" you should stay in not to bump into things.

because it's supposed to be an art performance, which everyone understands is recorded and edited to produce the best result. this was supposed to be a "feat of skill", so of course using that same method is considered cheating, because you are lying about the implication that you were playing the song in one go and "perfect"

Personally I don't think the West is "doing nothing". While they could do more (we're still a few days into this conflict, after all, i hope more will come), I fully agree with the strategy of full economic isolation, minimize resource purchasing from Russia (and move towards zero, which will take many years), sanctions, asset seizures of oligarchs, etc. as well as helping Ukraine with absolutely anything they need, but NOT direct military intervention. The moment NATO troops attack Russian troops (or the other way around), then we'll be in WW3. Up until that point, considering Russia has invaded a non-EU, non-NATO member, I think this is as much as the West should do. After all the US got away with something similar against Iraq with nothing more than vague lies about weapons of mass destructions and got zero punishment for it.

This is all wild speculation on our part, as AFAIK, there hasn't been any direct attacks between two nations that have nuclear bombs except some skirmishes here or there (and being able to do that doesn't warrant an extra $24B spending). At most, war by satellite (USA supports country A, Russia supports country B, and A and B bomb each other). Maybe I'm being unimaginative, but I can't see how direct attacks between China and US wouldn't escalate to a nuclear war, even just due to egos.

Would the US be willing to launch a bunch of non-nuclear missiles to China, though? Because I'd also bet they wouldn't. And if they would be, the missiles they already have would already work

In direct listings there is no lockup period, I believe, unlike in traditional IPOs.

I don't think there is any downside in having a remote job in a tech vs non-tech city, unless you: a) enjoy going to in-person tech meetups b) want to have the option to also find local onsite jobs

If you already live in a non tech city and you've been offered a good remove job, I'd consider that a big win. Take it! Once you start working remotely and build a resume as a good remote worker, it's also easier to get future ones (i.e. companies know you're used to it, you like it, you'll work efficiently that way, etc).

I've been working remotely for 10 years and I agree that for junior developers, onsite is a much better way to learn and create a network.

Hamilton. I'm not big into theater nor musicals, and I had heard so much about it by the time I watched it on Disney+, I wasn't expecting it to blow me away but it totally did. More and more companies are choosing to do this when they are created. But Stripe has, I believe, over a thousand employees. Expecting them to relocate far away (p.e. another state) is simply ridiculous (I believe the one example of a company doing something like this would be Zappos, when they relocated to Las Vegas). You'd just lose too many people. Now, opening another office somewhere else to keep expanding, a lot of companies do.

Sadly, the political landscape has been pretty much monopolized by the Catalonian independence issue, with politicians using it as a smoke screen to cover way more important issues like constant corruption scandals, rampant privatization of health care, double-digit yearly increases in utility bills, housing rent bubble, etc.

Indeed, the public healthcare system in Spain, while still great compared to most of the world, is a shadow of what it once was, with the rampant privatization done by the Government in the last decade. A really sad situation. That being said, decent private healthcare here is about 100€/month, so while private healthcare is still considered "a luxury" (because public one is pretty good), it's still very very far from the cost of US private healthcare.

I'm Spanish and live here and I'd say people smoke a lot less than they used to after laws were passed a few years ago banning smoking from pretty much any indoor space that isn't residential. I know few people who smoke and those who do don't smoke _a lot_. French people on the other hand, pretty much every person I know, even here living in Barcelona, smokes like crazy.
