I would give yourself more credit, I highly doubt he would be able to flash a v11, I don't think he boulders much harder than v12.

Nice work by the way, Font is the best!

That goes counter to what this article is saying with the whole "Roger Dad" approach. He gives many examples where people took the general approach to start, specialized late and rose to the top.

There is a difference between a new born and a 7 month old. The latter is extremly unlikly of suffocating on a blanket or a stuffed animal and calling CPS in this case is abhorrent. There is certinaly a step before you call someone to take there kid away

I mean, the project lead wanted a feature and then implemented the feature, clearly it had value to him.

This is a pretty hardline approach.

Most people allow for coffee and tea without sugar or cream.

If there are no calories you're not breaking a fast in my opinion.

BCAA's do have calories so I would say they would break a fast though.

"Low carb and high fat: The fat goes to your fat cells (that is, whatever fat you don't burn for fuel immediately after eating), but since your insulin is low the fat is readily burned off relatively soon."

- The fat you eat does not have to be stored as fat, the raised insulin levels are necessary for the body to store energy as fat.

"Low fat and high carb: The carbs cause an insulin spike, and insulin inhibits fat burning, BUT since you haven't stuffed much fat into your fat cells, there isn't much to burn off when your insulin eventually comes back down. You need to be relatively insulin sensitive, so that your insulin level does come back down. Even if you're insulin resistant, this diet might still work if you eat only a tiny amount of fat."

- Carbs can be converted to fat via lipogenesis.

"why would you risk killing someone for that"

I think that's the main point of the article. Taser markets these weapons as non-lethal, going to great lengths to make sure investigations point the blame somewhere else when a death occurs.

Police don't treat these weapons as lethal, which is clearly not true.

He sites several studies including the Minnesota Starvation Experiment[0]. It's pretty simple, if the body gets some calories but not enough, your metabolism is lowered and you have less energy along with a host of other symptoms. This also explains why this is a terrible dieting strategy, once your metabolism is lowered you regain the weight quite fast once you start eating more.

Yes, eating too much food can cause weight gain. That is also the simplest and least helpful view that exists. It certainly does not explain how some people can gain weight with a calorie deficit and some people can loose weight on a calorie surplus.

By the way "skipping meals" (aka fasting) is exactly what Dr. Fung recommends to lose weight. Fasting drops your insulin levels and gives your body a chance to burn its stored fats.

This is double speak, charging someone to use something is not a tax.

The fee to ride the bus/train is not called a tax, why would this be any different?

Roads need to stop being subsidized, it's the only thing that's going to give mass transit a chance to actually compete.
