It's always funny to see Gemini brought forward as an alternative to the web. It's a cute protocol for sharing simple documents but it excludes so many use cases. How would you order a shirt online? No sessions and no forms means no interactivity.

I think Elixir is taking a very mature path to typing. No type-annotations (yet) just type inference from existing language constructs like function guards and pattern matching. Also trying to minimize false positives, only giving type errors when it would provably crash at runtime.

Running an LLM locally is theoretically viable. Running your blog on your laptop is never viable (unless you hook it up like a server). One just requires compute while the other a stable network.

I have been having a blast using quadlets on my tiny home server. Feels like I'm learning how to use systemd which is a nice bonus. My workflow consists of just connecting vscode over ssh and editing files as needed, which works well since everything is owned by my user.

I keep seeing people praising the HN UI but just can't see it. The lack of padding makes it hard to differentiate between articles. The many low contrast links below look cluttered. Not to mention how horrible the site is to use on mobile.

People always talk about the license and stuff but personally, i always shy away from Qt because the only real choice for language is C++ and maybe python. Gtk being written in C gives it much more flexibility in what languages can bind to it.

What the hell is wrong with people?! Is it that hard to not harass your fellow humans? Think for yourself, what do I want with my short life. And decide if that is making other peoples life worse.
