a story about some jackass that stole my laptop from my apartment. when I track the laptop down he had upgraded the memory, larger hdd and upgraded from windows to linux. he also left a bunch of pics of him and my girlfriend having "fun". So i lost my girlfriend, but I got a kick ass laptop.

I will try and setup a place online to post it. Basically it just renames files in a folder or directory. by default, it starts the first one with 0000.txt then 0001.txt. I would like to make it ASK for a prefix THEN add the numeric sequence.

I will get it online and update you all.

Google and other folks mention "political reality" as the reason for compromise. Folks, that just means we dont want to work hard at it, or make waves. If this country is truly democratic, then we, the people, have the power. We have the power to make not only Verizon and Google kneel to uus, but the FCC and the knuckleheads in DC.

If we need to have camera's to protect court houses, government buildings and banks for security reasons, then it would seem that a citizen has the right to videotape any event they are involved in if they so choose. If we do not get asked our permission to be videotaped when I enter a shopping mall, then I should not have to ask anyone's permission if I am on a public road and some cop is yelling and waving a gun.

I would have to say that yes, everyday I visit this site and feel like a big pile of sh#t. My reasons are:

1) I am fascinated by the stuff programmers do. I do not program, have tried to learn, but I am impatient. I will never code, so I feel like shit.

2) I see info on some real cool startups, and think I will never be involved in one. I do not have any great ideas, do not know any smart, cool people and can kiss that experience goodbye.

3) I am in IT, but it is at the Class A level, not the major leagues. I feel I will be stuck in the helpdesk forever, and it scares me.

So I feel like sh#t every day, because I read HN everyday. But when I do not read it, I forget about it and feel better. Well, maybe it is the porn sites I visit that make me fell better.
