I think another key to your success: you are writing a book about design and your front page is stunning... congrats! I would happily trust your judgement on design based on your home page. Did you design this yourself?
$15k certainly sounds impressive, but how many hours have been spent researching, writing and marketing the book? Only once we have a ratio'd figure to compare can we claim success.
Could someone explain the following terms: Elastic Block Storage unit, IOPS, Striped 1000-IOPS EBS volumes, Memory warmup time.
Unfortunately Apple have adopted a philosophy of rejecting any app that loosely competes with iOS native apps - we for example had an app rejected for allowing users to share apps on Facebook/Twitter... the reason given was apparently it didn't provide any additional functionality over the native app (even though it did!)
What now is an API call that counts towards your quota? An API call to the Cloud Code from the client, or each call to a Parse method within the Cloud SDK?
Peer-reviewed science is built on anonymous reviewing so that assumptions like this are not an issue. Look at the data, not the publisher.
I find Richard Feynmanns accounts of hacking (non-computer) systems at Los Amos to be fascinating - I was hoping once the cheating was revealed we were going to be treated to a story of how someone cleverly found a loophole in the system that was then closed, improving the system for everyone. Rather we got a smear article...

I believe sir you are suffering from choice-supportive bias.
Interestingly, the journalist who wrote this article also wrote a terrible review of the Nexus 7 when it first came out slating the device with multiple inaccurate statements. He was roasted in the comments & had to append the article with a justification for his viewpoints.
I'd like to know what he thinks now.

There is so much wrong with this comment. Why spend thousands on a website? Why rand, an obscure South African currency? Will clients leave you..not if you dont have any clients due to your competitor down the road appearing top of the search results with a good site? What about customers who want to research the company? Branding?
I don't know how I would feel if I pitched my side project to someone and they then went and cold called 40 companies discussing the project without my knowledge. This time it worked out great, but what if one of those larger companies had decided to run with it? I realise that it's good to share your ideas, but I would at least like to have had an input. Thoughts?
So you can review a product thats available on Amazon without actually having purchased it? Surely thats a flaw?
I honestly believe that this is the beginning of the end for the patent system. If this was granted and enforced we would see something along the lines of the advertising mantra: "good advertising the the fastest way to kill a bad product"
I'd love to hear the reaction of those universities who initially rejected this and their reasons.

I begged my parents to buy me a piano when I was a child, there was something amazing about being able to produce sound that would have an impact on people.
Find the music you love, and learn how to play that... it mightn't be efficient or thorough, but man it'll be engaging.. which is what I believe counts.
NFC - once NFC becomes ubiquitous, it'll be a lot easier for developers and manufacturers to integrate solutions. The problem at the moment is that we don't have critical mass of readers.
What are your goals? A high level "renaissance man" is a good start, but how about breaking these down into tangible 'deliverables'. E.g. what languages do you specifically want to learn? Do you want to spend time in a country applying those language skills in a natural context...
The reason I suggest this is without clear goals and a practical application for those goals, you may not get the outcome you desire.
It would be great to know how much each designer charged.
