Whoa, I still remember watching a show about VR on the Discovery Channel around 1999 when I was a kid. They used Quake 2 as a demo, and it blew my mind. I was playing Quake 2 on my PC also, but the concept of VR was revolutionary to me at the time. It's stuck in my head to this day. To now learn that using Quake 2 was a common practice for teaching VR. Maybe it was you in that documentary!

Why do people keep comparing refine with nocode tools like windmill or tooljet? Refine just scaffolds your codebase, gives you a good start and has some really cool hooks for common operations like auth / data management / tables etc. I use it for my SaaS and it's great (though they never replied to any of the enquires i made for enterprise). Once you scaffold the project, then you're on your own.

Actually someone described this phenomena really well: we are all tied up (psychologically, socially, economically) by these billionaires and the visions they bring up to us, that we let ourselves seduced by the spectacle, while surrendering our common sense and critical thinking, void of power, action, consciousness.
